Please remember that this is not a simple bulb swap operation that I'm doing. I am completely disassembling the lights, modifying them, installing hand-made led units, then resealing the lights.

For my conversion, I am doing my best to keep costs down, you need to remember:

1) the hours and hours of development/design time that went into this
2) the sourcing of components, designing, and then having most parts custom made for this specific application
3) additional materials such as adhesives, paints, solder, wires, bulb sockets, load resistors, aluminum mounting hardware, etc.
4) 4-5 hours of labor for converting just one set (opening them, masking, painting, assembling the led units, sleeving/soldering wires, soldering bulb ends, testing, re-sealing the housing, and re-packaging/returning.

Since the group buy is going to be online within the next 8-24 hours, I suppose I can give the price range...

Depending on what lights you have (usdm vs jspec) I'm charging about $400 for the conversion. Based on everything I listed above, and the amount of labor that goes into producing these, that's really the best I can do. If you think about it, a used set of '99 tails is going to set you back more than this, and they're not even LED!

I would also like to announce that this group buy is only happening thanks to SakeBomb Garage, who will be running the group buy and taking care of orders for me.

Since I was unable to finance the costs of producing a large number of these conversions myself, so I approached SakeBomb Garage several weeks ago to see if they were interested, which they were. Since then, I have been working with them to finish the design for this conversion and work out the logistic of doing a group buy. I want to clarify that this is not increasing the cost of the conversion as SakeBomb Garage is making virtually no money on the sale of this product. If you end up ordering one of these conversions, make sure to thank Scrub (Dan) from SakeBomb garage because without his backing this group buy wouldn't be happening!

I can't give any more info at this point, please wait for the group buy for the full info.
Tom,

Kit is incredible and I'm sure to be in. Just curious to know if the price will be slightly less if you already have JDM 99 spec lights or US spec lights that have been converted since part of your 4-5 hours labor assumes painting and masking? Thanks for your reply!

Now if you guys can get some chinese slave laborers in a chinese prison to do the conversion, we could all get it for less than $150 including overnight airfreight shipping cost.
I think you'll be fighting David Hayes to the death for that spot, you should have seen him at deals gap.

Yes, that is what i am implying. If you have authentic '99-spec lights, the price will be slightly less as it is one less step in the conversion process (but still a lot of work!).

US lights that have been converted will discounted on a case-by-case basis, as not everyone does the conversions correctly (like I do!). Some people have converted lights where the circles are placed incorrectly or the wrong size, which will make it more difficult to do the LED conversion - I will provide more info about this in the group buy thread.

Yo... PO-*****.....

I think if you look back through the thread, you'll see several people who chimed in before you (including myself) . However, all things being equal, those with cabbage in hand will be first to the table (*burp*)

Did you butt in line when you were in kindergarten (j/k)

Hey Tom,

I've had a look at the SakeBomb Garage website... they don't deliver to New Zealand... Can something be arranged for me? I'm really keen on a set!

Cheers

by the looks of it, not much longer. 17 confirmed people in 12 hours with only 8 slots left.

anyone who is considering this should get onboard soon. there are some international members trying to get in, but they first have to source lights here so they don't have to send theirs over the pond and back.

it was a random. he rolled up next to me and scrub and started rev'ing engine at us...which was weird because we were stuck behind another car. after we didn't respond he scooted up goodfella and tried him.

Apparently it wasn't a KR, but yes I do believe I would have been able to hold my own against it. BUT earlier that day my fuel pump was acting up and losing voltage/flow as I got higher up in the RPMs so I wasn't able to play . I think I managed to overheat the pump or something. Also if I were to try to keep up while Tom was filming I'm not sure the footage would have been viewable lol.

when we all got off the highway rich pulled up next to him and the guy's girlfriend tried to crawl through rich's window.

haha well almost. she did say that she used to have an FD herself though. maybe goodfella will chime in with the details of that convo...
