Question probelms with A/C....

Guy I bought FD from claimed that he drained the system of old r12 and oil...yesterday charged the system with refrig r12 and it does get cool sometime except high revs but when sitting awhile gets warm again...seems to cool more consistently now

also it really drags on the tach...some 700 rpms drop when using the a/c.

could this be due to no lubricant in a/c system? or is this the power consequenc of having a/c?

before the charge the car rev at around 1200 (automatic) now after r12 charge it revs much lower in fact it stalled the car on one occasion...

thanks for the help

My advice is to take it to an A/C professional. If the system was empty (depressurized), it should have been evacuated first (all the air and moisture needed to be sucked out) then recharged with new refrigerant and oil.

I overpressurized an A/C system once. The compressor squealed, then froze up, then a hose blew out with a bang that was louder than a cherry bomb. I think there's still a hole in the ozone above my old apartment in Sausalito. Take it to someone who know's A/C systems before the same thing happens to you.
