power window switch install
I searched and it sounds like i need to replace my PW switch. My drivers side window will go down with no problem, but going back up......sometimes it works but more times than not, it doesn't. Same with the pass side. I can put it up from the drivers side, but doesn't always go up with the pass side control. Do I need to relace both switches? Has anyone done this repair and have some good instuctions? Thanks for the help!

I replaced my driver's side switch. I can make the passenger go down from the driver's side but not up. The passenger switch works both up and down. You have to pull off the driver's side door panel. I think there are instructions on another thread on this site...

haha...my driver side works both windows up and down. but my passenger side doesn't work at all. it use to just roll down the window down and not up...but now it is good for nothing. is this a problem with the passenger side switch...or does the driver side have a problem causing the passenger side switch to not work at all?...does it work that way?

You dont have to remove the door panel to replace the
switch on either side. Just slide a flathead under the lip
around the switch and pry it up. Be careful not to mess
up the door though.. that plastic **** scratches easy..

If your passanger side window does not work from the passanger side but does from the driver side than there
is a mechanical problem with the passanger switch. pull it out and see if you can fix it your self. If there was any electrical problem with the passanger switch the driver switch would no longer roll the window down either. With out the passanger switch the driver switch does not work, for the passanger window. This is what happend to me. Turned out that the plastic actuator inside the passanger switch had cracked. Super glue fixed it for a couple of weeks but eventually I had to buy another switch.

Yeah I called the mazda dealership and they want 163 bucks. It's worth it to me, but I want to mamke sure that the switch is the problem ....is this a common thing and this is the fix?

Yeah it is a pretty common thing for the switch to give out. Usually tey will roll down but not back up. I noticed when I replaced mine the switch was slightly different. It looked the same on top, but the circuit board and such looked different. So maybe they beefed it up a little. It is very easy to replace. Just a couple of mins. Like the other guy said be careful not to scratch up you door panel.

go to www.mazdarecycling.com sure you get used parts, but it's better than paying for a new one.

No, you don't have to pull of the panel, esp on the passenger side. But I don't trust breaking the switch plate which is $340+. Also, I needed to fix a broken map door and handle. Besides taking the car apart is fun
$163 is a good price. Don't buy used unless it is very cheap. It will break much sooner. Old switches are good to piece 1 good switch from, but expect to do this yearly or so. Just get it new.

I took the passenger switch apart, cleaned out the metal contact inside the switch with sand paper. It comes apart easily.
I imagine the same can be done on the driver side.
Save yourself the $200-300 in new switches.

Me too!
hey samething happened to me recently! drivers side goes down but not up...I took apart the "switch casing" and found the "prong" that activates the up/down movement to be loose...
My Mazda dealer wanted $181, so i switched the switches on the drivers side door and all is well.
