Hey guys, i hav a 99 fd3s and i think the powersteering pump has just come to the end of its days.
I started to hear a noise from the engine bay which i could not locate to anything in particular, until one night whilst driving along i heard a clunking noise and poppd the hood and found that the powersteering pump pully was making ratteling and banging noises, also the fluid resivour had pressurised and overflowed and sprayed every where in the engine bay......
I made it home and had a look in the light the next morning, started and stopped the car a couple of times to make sure i was looking in the right spot, then i removed the pws and a/c belt and turned the pully, as far as i can gather its either the bearing or possiably the impellor ( if thats how the pump works) have got price on new pump and is $965 new zealand $.
Went to start the car to see if the noise had stopped, and of course it was flooded ..... lol but a simple tow start and i was away again, and yes the noise had stopped, so now the car is at my mates workshop ready for me to check out next week.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips, questions or experience with this??? i have searched but could not really find what i was after,
Thanks heaps mark
