power fc reliability mod
Hi guys I have a 94 R2 with 85,000 miles on it. The car runs better than new and I do all my sceduled maitnence ontime. The cars mods are a Fluidyne radiator,Greddy downpipe,Greddy Catback, aluminum ast tank, fighters garage intake and a Greddy smic on the way. Now as far as reliability goes would you guys consider getting a pfc as my next mod or stay with the stick and play with the suspension next. I have gone to many shops around my area and they all have mixed opinions on this also take into consideration I drive the car atleast 2 times a week and I live in Washington where there's not really anyone good to tune a pfc. Please give me your opinons thanks Sam

If your getting a SMIC as well, you should get a PFC. Its only really a "reliability mod" in that getting tuned will help keep you from running lean or spiking your boost. (keep the cat and you wont have to worry about boost creep) So I'd suggest getting one and getting tuned(once you have your SMIC), ask around in regional for any local shops.

I think it depends on you. If you like the idea of a programmable, then it might be appropriate. And just look for a Kan tunning session in your area.
But another option would be a re-programmed ECU ...something like a Pettit. It would be simple to use, enough for your modifications and avoid the need for a tunning shop. Sometimes I wish I'd gone this route myself.

Adding a PFC isn't a reliability issue. The stock ECU works pretty damn well for stockish levels of air flow and has enough fuel for 10-11 PSI of boost. A reprogrammed ECU is also a great option since its already tuned for a specific set of mods and you don't have to get it custom tuned to your application and find a tuner that actually knows what they are doing $$.
I'd leave it alone and freshen the suspension - bushings and such.

On a somewhat related note to Power FC, HOW do you do the "peak boost" function so you can see what the highest boost level you've hit is?
For some reason I just can't find the answer to this, all I've been able to dig up is something about a hold button or some crap... and I'm not at home so I can't try anything either
