Post your RX7 list of repairs...

Bought the car in January 03 with 65k on the original engine.
Modifications aren't considered repairs so I will only list the things I HAD to repair.
Tighten the hose clamp on the the turbo "Y" pipe to regain the secondary boost. I thought my car was running perfect till I bought a boost gauge and realized my secondary was only making 5psi at transition. Tighening the clamp fixed that problem. No problems since and I'm still on the factory vacuum lines!
Installed new stage 3 clutch in August 03. $450.00 installed myself.
Installed one upper radiator hose while doing the clutch replacement.
Replaced the differential bushings in August 04
Installed new pillow ball bushings late last year. $300.00 installed myself.
That's it other than routine maintenence oil change, engine flush, coolant change, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs and twice a year carbon cleanings. The engine now has 103 k and purrs like a kitten.

I have about 38,000 miles on my car and I've had to dump close to $40,000 into it and it hasn't been running for more than a couple weeks at a time over the last 5 years. Oh yeah I got it 13 years ago. I hate having to pedal my bicycle to work when it's not running.

Bought the car for $11k in 2004, so it came with a few problems. Ive put about 30k miles on it since then. I dont know the total of all the repairs. Honostly, I dont want to know. Here's what Ive had to replace -
Engine wiring harness
Battery
Coil packs
Window switch
Transmission
Clutch
Steering wheel (the leather peeled off)
Oil pressure sender unit
Rear differential bushings
Differential seals
wastegate actuator
Thats all I can think up that wasnt a mod. Those coil packs were more than I expected too.

Owner since 02. The car had 54,000 miles now it has 69,900. List of things gone wrong:
Reman with 2000 miles was leaking oil from oil pan and front cover.
I broke the 5th gear syncro the first day I owned it.
Turbos wouldn't hold boost.
AIT, Water temp sensor, Knock sensor all went bad within a year.
A/C compressor blew a seal and isn't fixed it yet.
Rear bushings are all shot.
Stock cd player actually flew out of the dash when I was racing one day.
A few interior pieces broken. Dash vent, side mirrior control, passenger window switch.
I'm sure there is more.
I do almost all the work on the car myself so I don't have to pay the way high labor fee.

I bought my 93 in 2001 with 39k mi. and the Dr. who owned it showed me $17,000 in receipts for the car over and above the price of the car. They say when you own an FD it is a love - hate relationship. I made so modifications to reduce the under hood heat retention and have not had a single problem in 5 years. I am hoping the new motor and turbos will stay reliable for a long time. I feel it was woth it but am now building an FC for everday.

who told you that you needed to save up twice of the car's worth? I bought mine 2 months ago taking out a $8000 loan...haha. 87K on the clock and it has been trouble free so far. Hope it stays that way...
basic maintainance has been done.

Yeah spending 3500 on a rebuild is a bit much to me. I could get a rebuild with a nice street port for 24-2600 (can't remember). Either way that's not too bad for them doing the rebuild and putting the long block back together. That's about the only thing I don't know how to do is make a long block, a short block.

you just bought it two months ago, pfft come talk to me in three years...
You took out a loan for 8k and the car has 87k on the clock. I seriously hope that you can afford a rebuild because it's coming (unless it's already been done). I'm seriously not trying to be mean, I'm just being realistic. So please don't take it the wrong way

Repair Cost On My Fd, Nothing Compared To Ex Wifes. Plus I Can Abuse Her And Not Go To Jail! Then She Pisses Me Of I Park Her In The Garage Until I Cool Of. Repairs Dont Mater I Love This Car + The Pain. Some Say Im Stupid, And I Happily Agree.

Well, I haven't had anything go wrong since I bought it. Just the stuff that was already wrong with it when I bought it around 1,000 miles ago!
Driver's side Outer door handle doesn't work (Help!)
Passenger power window won't go down (GXL bitches!)
Sunroof pops up, but doesn't slide back under it's own power until you manually crank it back about another inch from where it stops. (bent? Blockage? Can't figure it out..)
That's it. Runs like a charm, though my tranny is a lil noisy in all gears and I think my clutch needs an adjustment or the throw out bearing is bad.
