I have a 2-car garage filled with tools, and I have friends that are mechanics and one that owns a body-shop; together we have the necessary tools and facilities, but rotary-knowledge may be another story. Hopefully, I can find a good rotary-mechanic reasonably near; if not, then I guess I have a lot more reading to do.

Don't know exactly where you are at in KY, but there should be several rotary mechanics available *somewhat* close. Rx7 store is in OH if you are closer to there and I could name off about 3-4 reputable rotary mechanics in TN in various locations. If you are paying cash for your vehicles(assuming you earned the money, which I'm assuming you did), you have obviously shown some iniative. Alot of the younger owners(say this with tongue in cheek because I'm only 23) buy the car and finance it. Once their engine blows, they have to sell the car because they don't have any money to fix it because they spent what they did have on mods. Sounds like you are on the right track as far as researching the car. I have been around the cars for around 5-6 years and still don't claim to know anything about them except it's a love hate relationship. Good rule of thumb for new owners is keep around $3000 set back, because your motor very well may blow. Lastly, insurance shouldn't be *too* bad. I just bought another FD on Saturday. It was $200 every 6 months for full coverage. When I was 20 and a few things on my record... a little more... haha. Best of luck. Let me know if you need any help.

Mugen, I know that an RX-7 isn't a practical car, but I have had my mind set on this car for quite some time now and I am determined to own one. I actually look foward to the countless hours of working in the garage.
i was just like you, and i love working on cars and diagnosing problems and little things here and there its fun and its part of enjoying the car for me.

That's why I quit my old job and got something closer. Even though I make less an hour I still profit more cause I don't have to fill up every week. Also pay raise this week so.

*gets FD a fresh coat of wax to celebrate*

I live 2 blocks from work, but I never drive the FD for that purpose anyway, so I win.

This entire thread has nothing to do with the thread name. What a big waste of time. Can someone move this or close it?
