Possible drivetrain issue?

Hello,

Today I noticed when I slowly pull from a park my car locks up and stops. I did a pull on the highway today, and it violently hesitated like a driveshaft got stuck or locked up, then as soon as it happened the car kept going. This is interesting because I looked under the car and the driveshafts look ok from the exterior. Is there anything I can test for to see what the problem could be?

Auto or manual tranny? Do you have any ECU codes?

If you're worried about the driveshaft then have a look at it. I don't think there would be many driveshaft problems that aren't visible by visual inspection. It might make sense to change the differential oil, and see if that suggests any internal damage.

Also, stop the car on a slight downhill in a safe place. In neutral, let the car roll down (engine running) and see if there is any funny business or noises. If not, it's not likely to be a drivetrain problem.

I wonder if it could be a transmission issue? 3rd grinds lightly, and 5th grinds at high speed.

Hmm.
