Porting wastegate help **pics**
I just aquired my FD 6 months ago and man, what an adventure it has been. haha. I just finished doing the rebuild on the motor and its going back together and decided to purchase a set of rebuilt twins since mine were smoking and were horribly cracked. I didn't do the rebuild on those since Ive heard horror stories about doing it yourself. So I bought some professionaly rebuilt ones. The problem was, that when i took them apart to port the wastegate, I found that it was cracking around the hole. My question is, will it be ok to port it anyways? Or should I leave them alone? How long do you guys think they will last? Oh and by any chance, what's the torque specs on the bolts that held the turbos together? i cant find the specs for those. thnx guys

The wastegate looks normal.
Mazda doesn't consider the turbos rebuildable, so they don't provide torque specs. I'd probably start at about 20 ft-lbs and use my own judgement to see if they needed more. Other than thermal stresses, they aren't necessarily in a torque critical situation. Once again, this would have to be a judgement call though.
