Question Please help, have ? about my 93 RX7

93 RX7. I bought a rebuilt motor from ATK Egines, it was put in and automatically after starting the car it smoked. So i drove it around through the brake in period. The smoke subsided some what but never cleared up all together. Right after the brake in period i had my TD06H turbo rebuilt hoping that would fix the smoke problem, but i didn't. So i'm assuming that i received a bad motor to begin with. I'm having it pulled out under warranty. Question i had it there anything else i could check out before pulling the motor. Had a compression check done right after the motor was first installed and it was 90 across the board. I run 0 boost in my car and i don't plan to in the future. Also after my car warms up and i start to drive it when i begin to stop my cars idle revs between 1000-1200 rpm. I'm assuming it's a vaccum leak because it only happens when i car is totally warm.

Thanks
Beata

So does your car already have an upgraded turbo? What color is the smoke... if you have another turbo on your car make sure only the stuff you will need has vac. running to it.

the idle can be adjusted with ur aftermarket ECU or the air bleed screw in the front of the throttle body. like wonder1and asked, what color is the smoke? White smoke is quite normal, and black smoke most likely means ur just burning a crapload of fuel from running 0psi and not re-tuning ur ECU to compensate.

My car smokes blue smoke right when i start it and it somewhat goes away when the car warms up, but continues all the time. My car has a single turbo conversation, a 20G TD06H. I did not mention that i have a FC Commander. Which could possibily been the idle problem. I don't know anything about this unit. I want to know if i can reset it to stock.
thanks

could you please list your mods?

Also, don't drive the car very hard. If your Power FC isn't tuned right, your just gonna blow the motor again. Blue smoke usually means that oil is burning - as in a blown engine. Usually when the turbo goes, you have white smoke. Your turbo rebuild probably was not necessary.

anyway, post your mods so people can more easily help you id the problem. oh, why did you get a motor from ATK?

I heard ATK Engines was a good company to buy from and they have a 2 year warranty on the motor. I drive like a grandma in my car. I mean i have no boost so i don't drive my car carzy at all. I took the spring out of my wastegate.
I was told that to tune my car i need to buy this software for my Power FC. But i thought that the only reason you need the software is get increase the map size to accomidate the tons of boost since i'm stock would i need this software. My mods include.
TD06H Greddy single turbo
Greddy BLV
Greddy Intercooler
2 of my injectors are now 1200cc

My problem is this. It is possible that i received a bad motor or is there something i can check out prior to getting my motor pulled again. My return lines were wide open, no clogs, the intake side of my turbo had no oil, i run 0 boost. Smokes blue smoke, subsides when the car warms up but don't not go away.

Blue smoke is always oil smoke. Somehow, somewhere you are getting oil or excessive oil into the combustion chambers. Yes, it is possible it was just a bad build. It is also possible your Metering Oil Pump is injecting too much oil. Your compression readings are promising, and I know that you have done a turbo replacement but there is still the possibility that IT is bad, and injecting oil into the exhaust, or possibly even the intake. Have you looked in one of the intercooler feed hoses or the I/C itself to see if there is an excessive amount of oil?
Some is normal, like a fine film. Any more than that and I'd be wondering......

You should be able to turn the Oil Meetering Pump off in the Power FC... or at least down a bunch, and see if that helps, it might be that the ecu thinks you are running boost and is adding oil to compensate for the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) reading high....
