Planning on buying a 93 RX-7, need advice.

All you guys saying this is a STEAL "know" what you're getting into and plan on spending the time working on the car yourself. Most people, like me, and certainly like this 18 year old kid, probably doesn't have the tools and space or even access to this stuff and wouldn't know what needs to get done to the car, even if it can be driven home.
That first 7 I bought a few years ago had the coolant seal blow the first week I had it! I even took it to MazdaTrix in LA who did the compression test, coolant pressure check, boost test the turbos and they said "yes it will need a rebuild at some point... but you should be OK for now" .. haha. 1 week!!!
There is a HUGE difference between people who know these cars, can work on them.. build them into "track" cars as opposed to the rest of us (who aren't noobs, but still) ... and then there's this 18 year old kid who wants an "auto" for the weekend. If he really does like "auto" .. I mean chicks who talk allot.. I mean good for him... great, but he still is gonna get phuked trying to fix everything else, turbos, fuel system, body work, etc, etc, etc. $$$$$
You know it, I know it ... he don't know it.
And the son says to his dad, "but why do I have to wear a jimmy?"

its still cheap its just like buying a rolling shell but it comes with an engine!!!! i think all the people that said it is cheap all have oustanding fd's so i wouldnt worry about that actually mine isnt oustanding but it in the process of being.

I don't plan on getting the engine rebuilt since it already has been rebuilt by Peter Farrel Supercars last year. He only put on 10k on the engine since the rebuild.
How long does a rebuilt engine usually last?

If this kid is mechanically minded then its a good car to work with, lots of things can go wrong but at the same time it can be fun figuring out what is wrong and
you learn so much at the same time!!
Mods: manual conversion, brass button paddle clutch, Power FC, 1999 RX7 front end, lights, wing, rear lights, bumper and suspension, Apexi boost guage and turbo timer, Apexi pipes and pod filters, ARC intercooler, c-west side skirts, veilside end caps and FULL paintjob. and a bunch of other stuff I cant remember
Here are some before and after shots of my car.

You need to verify condition of the engine with a compression tests. These engines last anywhere from 2 miles to 100,000 miles. Unfortunately, anything can basically happen at any time.

OK.. Why don't I do everyone a favor and I go there and buy this car.. At least..
1. One less 18 year old buying an FD and likely total it within less than a year later of owning.
2. One less newb asking the same ole questions on the forum.
3. One less person think, "OH, I bought one for 7k so you shouldn't buy it!"
Alright.. I'm contacting the seller

I have seen some more pictures of the car. The engine looks like it's in like new condition. I'm at work right now, and when I come back I will go ahead and post them on here.
I asked the seller to do a compression test for me, and he is going to get the documents of service from PFS.

Ouch, I got my brand new 95 in late 96(70 dealer miles)when i was a senior in high school (17) and still kickin at 28. It went through college with me, that's NY to IN, for 5 years and presently its still mybaby with only 52K. Only 1 accident (most recent)/2 speeding tickets in my history.
Oh, did I mention its an Automatic and with my mods I'm pushing 340ish. I was not the most mature kid when I got my ride especially starting my senior yr in high school. This was my first big responsibility and I wasn't about to f-ck up something that I just dropped 36K on.
Now its a bit different when you can pick up a good condition FD for 7-14K. After alls said and done she is still sitting in my garage looking better then the day I picked her up 11 years ago.
good luck either way...

Wow! 17 years old and you had 36k 1996 dollars to spend on a car. That must have been some paper route.

Have all my bills and receipts over the yrs. Even managed to find the original window sticker. Actually leased the car for 3 years and split the payments with my parents. When lease came up my father wanted nothing to do with it. I shelled out something like 7K to buy it out right. Thank god I had a pretty profitable business in college. 100K (thats over 11 years), yeah so, 28 now and I've learned to manage the car pretty well (at least i think) as well as my credit card bills??All those yrs and still worth it..
Have fun with that if it all checks out and keep it safe....

Uh, no? I really dislike what you did. Too bad it will be gone before you come down here.

LOL! Looks like you and I aren't getting it.. He just emailed me and said someone offered $7200 and they are coming today
Kid, If I wanted that car, I have friends and family in that area who would go there today and buy it! If I really wanted to under cut you, I would of already done so. LOL!

Anyways. I just spoke with the seller today, a buyer is coming by today, and if he does buy it, hes picking it up Saturday. If not, then I may or may not buy it.
If it does get sold, I found a 94 FD Twin Turbo with a rebuilt engine and 500 miles on the rebuilt engine.

I think I have decided on what I want to do. I am going to get a 93-94 rx7 twin turbo manual from rx7world.com. They are basically going to rebuild the engine, reliability mods, and other things done to the car. Anybody have any experience from them?

The seller is going to let me know if today's buyer is buying it or not.. If not, I'll buy it and show it to you on my driveway

That sounds good kid. Next time I'm in your area, I'll let you do that so your teenage *** could goto jail, LOL! Dumb kids!! Saying that on public forum... so stupid!!

Nonetheless I'm not interested buying that car anymore. I'm actually working with Ernst over at Rx7 World so he can totally rebuild a rx7 he has and purchase it from him. I'm planning on doing a Stage 2 rebuild with alot of extras.
Peace!
