Any pics with the 18's on your car? I'm starting to like these rims a lot and can't decide between the 17's and 18's. Weight isn't too much of a factor for me either.

I dont have a weight for the wheels. There is however a thread on this site with detailed weight listings for pretty much every wheel on the market..

Looked through 3 files of old recipts. Damn that thing was a money pit. All I found was a low res. pic from my printer. I'll try to find somewhere to scan it later if you still want. Mike

I'm, pretty sure they're 8.5's +37 offset up front bro.... the rears are 10", +44... biggest i'd go up front would be a 245/40/17, and i'd match it w/ a 265/40/17 rear, to minimize the diameter difference. If you go with a narrower but taller 235/45/17, then you're cool to run the 275/40/17 rear.

Yup... I guess your right Peter. After all, they used to be your wheels So would a 225/45/17 have a taller side wall than a 245?

I guess that i'm a little confused Peter... Using Tire racks caculations of
225(W) X .45 (aspect ratio)= 101.5 mm (multiply x2 for total tire height)
245(W) X .45 (aspect ratio)= 110 mm

So the 245/45/17 tire should have a taller sidewall..

The 225/45, and 245/40 should be very close, with the 245 a little shorter depending on brand... i'd prolly go w/ the 245/265 or the 235/275... who wants a 225 front tire?

I know, it blows... i wish they'd had BFG KD's in appropriate sizes for my new wheels, but they didn't.... there's lots of other good stuff out there. You CAN put a 255 on an 8.5 wheel (thats the rear set up on later model JSpec RX7's, but i wouldn't do it with your front offset.

You could always call Fikse or Paul at Radial, and order two new inside wheel-halfs and make them into 9's or 9.5's even. Thats the beauty of modular wheels. I checked and the wheel halfs are relatively cheap, its the centers that cost. Those are the "Standard" Fikse fitment as that used to be listed on their site, as far as I know, so they should know what halves they are, and what you'd need to make up the difference (you could prolly give them the serial numbers too). You'll have enough clearance to add them to the inside, and it won't affect lip clearance.

OR, I'd just choose a different tire and get the size you want, Manny's undying love for asimetricos not withstanding... i'm loving my Toyos so far.

Pete what did you get to replace the Fikses?

Yeah despite my love for the stalwart P-Zero Asimmetricos, I'm thinking of trying the BFG KDs in 255/40-17s all around, despite their weight penalty, and much higher price (now that my car is strictly for "driving fun only").

Nope... maybe somebody took some from the Maryland BBQ. They look even better now with bright red StopTechs peaking out from behind :-)

I need to grab the digicam from work soon.

The Stop Techs need 25mm of clearance from mounting face to spoke. Thats a bit more than stock, but significantly less the the 45-odd the JSpecs need... i'll bet the clearance is just a little shy of that, and there might be issues with the tips of the spokes on a 17" variant of the wheel, i dunno. These brakes are BIG. You heard it right from BBS, so i'd trust that. I actually faxed the StopTech template from their website right to BBS N.A. for the OK before they'd order them for me.

Good to read that BBS says cool with Stoptech brakes. 9 wide x 17 RG-Rs, 42-mm offset with 245/40-17s fit all around on my E36 M3 4-door; may get a set for the bimmer in bright silver from Tire Rack for $450 each. Enjoy the new RG-Rs, and post some pics, will ya?!

Maybe, the more pertinent question, is which big brake kit does NOT fit?

Okay... I thought that some of the "better" ones would only fit under 18" wheels. Thanks Sleep.. I know you get a million questions.

Right. Unless you're running in SCCA GT class road racing, there's no point having a brake kit that only fits under 18-inch wheels LOL. Props to the car. Enjoy!

The StopTech fit under 17" wheels, but i'm not positive of the Fikses. It looked close, you may need a 1-2mm spacer. I know most of the popular AP kits fit them.... you can go on Stop Techs site and download a template to cut out and try...

Sleep:
BBS only makes one 17x9" +42 wheel, but they make two 18x9" +42 wheels. I don't think the 17" version has the pad height you need, just like one of the 18" versions doesn't. I has to special order the right one.... and i'm not sure even THAT one will fit the Rz's.
