The first thing that you probably need to decide is if you want an r1 or touring model. There are differences with each model.

r1: comes with spoiler, stiffer suspension, dual oil coolers, no sound deadeners in doors, suede leather seats

touring: no spoiler, rear wiper, bose sound system, leather, sunroof (which takes away the pretty bubble top)

The r1 which I own was and is basically the race version of the car and touring is what it is a touring model with nicer stuff inside the same motor but not exactly the same performance affect as the r1.

Check to see if the car has been wrecked cause that will greatly affect performance do a carfax and really overlook the car head to toe for overspray or different paint colors anywhere. See if it has had a rebuild on the motor lately or if it is still on the original motor.

The inside of a 94 or 95 is more sturdy so that is always a plus I am actually looking for the interior of a 94 to put in my 93 model. If you get a 93 with tan leather the door panels are also tan but the dash is black so you might want to look at that before you buy it.

Look at lamotorcars.com Lance the owner always has fd's on the lot and is a good guy and I bought my car from him and the best thing is that he sells warranties with all of the rx7's which is very nice and needed.

Realize that you buying this car that it will be in the shop a few times so get used to it and realize that. If you plan on modding it plan on buying a daily driver within 18 months or so and just having a wicked weekend driver. Hope this helps you out alot and good luck with the fd.
