Yes, I suppose you're right, but if I were the thread starter that certainly wouldnt make me sleep better at night.
I prefer to keep a worst-case-scenario line of thinking when it comes to the FD

I have the same driving distance to and from work. I've noticed my fuel consumption is much like yours when used just for that trip to and from work. How ever on the road it's quite a different story as I get 23 to 25 mpg on the highway crusing at 80mph. I do tend to let the car warm up before I make the drive (as I generally boost the car) and have to admit hitting 100mph in the short trip, so warming the car up fully is a must for me and am sure this is the biggest part of the fuel consumption (as it's very rich during warm up) I changed my FPD when I did the engine swap but can't say that it was a contributing factor to the fuel usage.
