PIAA H4 and H3 Super Plasma GT-X vs. Sylvania Silverstar 9003 and H3
These seem to be the two most popular aftermarket direct replacement kits for headlights and foglights. I hear the new GT-X has a purple tint to low-beams, and the Silverstars are pure white, both of which are fine with me. I just want to know which is brighter, wider pattern, etc... Leaning towards Silverstar because of good feedback from this forum, but has anyone tried the GT-X?

I havent used the PIAA's but I do have the Silverstars in my car. They are probablly the brightest bulbs ive had on my FD, other than the Raybrigs I bought off of Ebay. I really like the Silverstars, also they are "kinda" cheap.

Well, I just bought a set of PIAA Super Plasma GT-X H4 headlights, H3 foglights, and 168/194 driving lights. I'll post before and after pics after I get them from Ebay, hope they look nice.

I replaced all the lights on the truck I used to have with silverstar bulbs, they were great! Way brighter than stock, plus, in the 2 years I had them in I only had one of the fog lights burn out, (9006) the others (H4, and the other 9006) I never had a problem with.

you can get silverstars at almost any parts store and even wal-mart. I have em in my dodge ram and 3 friends have em none of em look pink. they all look very very white compared to standard bulbs and are the closest to HID i've seen without looking blue purple or rainbow

The silver stars put out a clean light. I enjoy my 9003 & H3's. There was one strange occurance with my H3's... had to dremel out the notch on the H3 in order for proper fitment in the fog light receptacle. Anyone have similar issues?

The reason more people have the Silverstar is because of price, about $25 cheaper then the PIAA ($75). I have the Plasma GT PIAA's and they have a purple tint looking at the car but white on the road. Another nice set is RAZO ($50) but they have a blue tint. I just got a set of H3's to replace my amber PIAA H3's.

Here is a really cheap solution. 80w bulbs have a shorter life but for $16 it's cheap to replace. http://www.autobarn.net/hellah4.html
I have the Optilux XB 100w (high beams) on my CRX. They are extremely bright and very blue. I would recomend the XP for CA (violet/purple shade) since blue is technicaly illegal. Nokya Artic purple is excellent to, but around $50/pair.

Well, the H4 headlights have come in, not the fogs or driving lights yet. I installed them tonight, will post pictures tomorrow. On low beams, they are bright white looking at the lens, with only the small purple center showing (which is hard to see because of the crappy lens). On high beams, they are pure white, and very bright. Since I have the stock fogs still in, I can see how big a difference the new bulbs made in color, and they are waaaay whiter. Can't wait for the matching ones to come in. Does anyone know where I can find a QUALITY replacement lens for the FD? I'm willing to pay well.
