Pettit or RP Pulley Kit

It's about time to change my belts anyway, so I was thinking of buying a pulley kit. Either the Pettit or RP one. However, I do have a stock main cat. So do I just buy one additional belt from the dealer so I can keep the air pump? The descriptions of those products are lacking as to what they actually change. But all the other kits I see get rid of the air pump, so I figured it would be safe to assume those two do so also. Or should I just buy new belts and not buy any pulley kit since I'm retaining the air pump?

you can get the pulley, no real difference between the RP and Pettit, but you can throw in Rotary Extreme's pulley into the mix. It's lighter by design than the other 2. There's also the UR pulley but you just have to be careful when taking out the ecentric shaft nut to change it. The other 3 don't require you to do this. You can find a belt length to fit with the pulley and the air pump...53 inch 6 rib I think would fit, but I'm not for sure. Put the pulley on, get some string, and rope it off, then measure the string length and that would be the length belt to get.

If you are keeping your airpump, the Pettit TKT Power Pulley kit is the only full pulley kit you can use.

waste of $... do this... buy a 300 belt (size) and just not hook up your air pump. buy a midpipe for around a 100 bucks from gothamracing.com slap that on and feel the powa. it will cost about the same w/ a bigger performance gain... just put it back to stock when your doing emmisions.
My $.02

Mahjik, what do you mean full pulley kit? Just wondering since if your just talking about the underdrive main pulley, the RP, Pettit, and RE pullies are all the same size diameter, with Chuck's being a little lighter. Other than that, you coulf buy any of the 3 underdrive main pullies and the belt size will be the same if your keeping the air pump.

I've had all 4 main underdrive pullies in my hands (Pettit installed, RP, RE now installed, UR never installed but looked nice) and they would all use the same belt

I mean: out of the box, ready to go.

I talked to RP when I was doing my pulley upgrade years ago. They said they do not sell a pulley kit that keeps the airpump. Yes, you can size the belts and go get one that will fit with the other (non Pettit)kits, however the definition of a kit usually means it contains everything you need. The Pettit Kit has contains everything for upgrading the pullies and keeping the airpump (without needing to *shop around* for anything extra).

true that about Pettit. Checking Chuck's site, he does as well now, as an option. Price for both kits are similar as well with Chuck's coming in bit cheaper than Pettit's and lot cheaper compared to Pettit's ultralightweight pulley kit that would be similar in weight to Chuck's.

I won't just feel the powa, I'll feel the boost creep. A mid pipe is currently not an option.
