Pettit Racing Unlimited ECU

Can I reset this ECU like the stock one and can I also get error codes from it?? I'd think that yes, but I don't know for sure...

Yes, it's basically a stock ECU with a different MAP.

They are usually available for around $300-$400 USD used. Sometimes you can find them cheaper if the seller just wants to get rid of stuff. They are good for up to around 360rwhp with a ported motor.

i'm waiting for my RX7 to arrive from japan and i want proper fuel management for it. i'm not looking to get anything over 280-300whp out of it. I'll stick to stock turbos, stock main cat. just catback, downpipe, intake, intercooler and other reliability mods. Power FC is better i guess but Pettit ECU sounds good for its price. Can this unlimited ECU support different boost pressures? for example, stock boost during daily driving and 12-13psi during difficult runs?

Pettit basically has 2 versions of their ECU:

Limited
Unlimited

The difference is just where fuel cut is located. Fuel cut happens at 14.7 PSI on the Limited version. There is no fuel cut on the unlimited version. The ECU will basically support what the stock fuel system can support. People have boosted up to 15-16 PSI using the Pettit ECU (when using race gas). It will definitely support 12-13 PSI without a problem. It's not tunable, just just plug-n-play.

Thank you, i see now. I have one more question. When there is no need for racing, it will not run ritch at 10PSI? or it adjustes fuel and ignition for different levels of boost?

If you simply plugged it up to a stock based car, it will run a richer as it expects more airflow even at 10 PSI. This is the downside to the "one map fits all" idea of the reprogrammed stock based ECU's. It won't run so rich that your car is undrivable, but your gas mileage will suffer.

If you have a few mods done like intake and downpipe and catback, it will be just fine. It will also support up to full bolt-ons and ported motors. Basically what it cannot directly support is injector upgrading.

Beqa16v, I've been running this ECU for 1 year now. I'm running intake, dp, catback, hif-low cat and I'll also run IC soon (my pettit racing coolcharge II is already at home )
All I can tell you about this ECU is that is a good ECU. I searched a lot before purchased it and all the users were really happy with it. I'm running it at 10 psi and works perfect. I'll run it at 12.5-13 psi as soon as I have my IC installed, and I'll see how it goes... I'm also planning in getting a wideband, and as soon as I know exactly how is the mix going I'll let you know. But I recommend you this ECU if you're not planning going too far with your FD. If you're planning running a setup like mine it's a very good choice.

Thats great cuz I'm looking for a setup similar to yours, not going far with my FD as you mentioned. Let me know how it all works out with increased boost. Do you know how much WHP do you have now? and how much will you get after installing your IC and increasing boost up to 13?

I still don't have this information. I'll make a dyno day soon and I'll let you know, as soon as my IC is installed.
Anyway, do a search in the forum for "pettit ECU". You'll get tons of good info. I bought mine after doing a good search, there is a lot of people here running this ECU and like M2 Stage II ECU everybody is really happy with it.

I dynoed at 322rwhp at 12psi of boost on my stock twins in sequential mode with all of the bolt ons and a ported motor with that ecu.

I have no idea why anyone buys a PowerFC to run on the stock fuel system. The chipped ECU's out there have pretty dang good tunes and are truly plug and play. I ran an rx7.com chipped ECU for a long time and made good power (321whp at 11psi), got 28mpg on the highway, and didn't have to mess with my tune one bit.

Getting an FD to a reliable 350whp is not hard or expensive. Getting over that power level does cost quite a bit... (more fuel, standalone ECU, single turbo, etc.)

This ECU does run A tad on the rich side, but I can tell you that 26 mpg is possable at highway speeds. Cam will tell you to stay at 12.5 on premium, and under 15 on racing fuel as you'll be pushing the stock fuel system over 14 psi. I have the limited and have been quite happy with it as it supports my mods just fine.
