People running blitz power meters
...Or any brand power meter in general.
How accurate do you think it is? Or do you know it is?
I recently finished my power meter install but just today i took the car out for a drive and went a few short trip errands.
Anyway at first i had to calibrate it which was a big pain, since jersey roads are bumpy, out of whack and there isnt just a good flat road to set this at without someone running into me, or beeping at me for going slow etc etc.
Anyway i noticed everything was working EXCEPT when i looked at HP, it said NET 377? This couldnt be right, there is no way my car makes 377HP, even if the simple fact this meter could be 10, 20, maybe even 30HP off, i really doubt my car makes 340, or even 320 crank HP.
I didnt believe this so on my way home from one of my errands, i switched screens to the speed by play mode and it was 100% accurate. I maintained a 40MPH and it showed on the meter, 40MPH so i knew the meter was reading off correctly.
I know this meter is not the down right to the bone accurate as it gives approximate readings but even though it was 30 or so HP off, i really doubt my car makes 377 as it showed.
Does someone have an answer?
Thanks

I have a blitz power meter ID - but haven't installed it as yet.
However, you didn't mention whether you had set up the weight of the car? And I don't mean just putting in a figure that most people agree to on the forum. To do it accurately you would need to get your car weighed with you in it.
If it was left as the default setting (I think it is 1450KG's or so) then you would get a rediculously high HP reading.
Just a thought... let me know if you did do this part of the setup, cos I am interested in how good this meter is
As an aside: I bought this meter to interface with my blitz SBC ID-III boost controller, in order to change boost at different road speeds. so I am glad to know that at least the speed side of things works well!

Well i bought the meter used so it didnt come with any instructions. I forgot all about weight input. Do you think you can read your manual and PM me on how to input weight. I was fooling around with the meter after the install but cant remember if that feature was on there.

This should help:
http://www.nengun.com/doc/nengun-073...i-d_manual.pdf
English manual.... and a few other manuals for other japanese brand electronic items.
Hope that helps with your problem.
Post back the results so I know whether this is a good device

Damn, it said when the meter is powered for the first time it will go to PW loss.
The meter i have is used. I might have to PM someone who already has their meter installed.
Thanks anyway though for all the info man.

Read further down in the manual, specifically:
"SET UP AND CALIBRATION - After the speed and power unit has been set, scroll back to WEIGHT. PW LOSS &
press ENTER. Once in this mode you can set the weight of the vehicle, if it is 2WD/4WD, and set the power loss.
To set, press ENTER button and use the up/down button to set weight, 2WD/4WD, and power loss."
This says to me that to get to enter the weight later on, you can scroll down to "WEIGHT. PW LOSS"
Besides, if you have just installed this in your car, the unit would have been unplugged and would go to that mode on startup anyway. It doesn't have a permanent memory
Seriously just fiddle with the menus, cos worst case scenario you'll have to pull the power wire to it, and start again.
I have plugged mine in and had a play with it, and it looked really straight forward to me.

Ahh ok im gonna go check that out next time i see my car.
I have one more question though. You said it has no memory. So like if i disconnect my battery, i lose all data and have to calibrate this thing again?
Cause sometimes i disconnect my battery on ocassions i dont use my car for a long time (like more than a week, which is often) and i dont want to calibrate this every single time i disconnect the battery.
Thanks for all the info and help man.

I am pretty sure it loses its settings when you disconnect the battery. Altho I could be wrong.....
Would be best for you to check next time, as mine still isn't installed (work is taking up too much time for anything else)
You could always buy a trickle charger for your battery, and leave that plugged in when you aren't driving the car.
Also I sometimes don't drive my car for 3 - 4 weeks, and the battery fires up perfectly every time.... maybe you need a larger / newer battery?
cheers!

I think the power meter is pretty worthless as far as horsepower readings. The best thing about it by far is the speed map capability when coupled with the boost controller:
0-15mph 10psi
15-30mph 12psi
30-60 mph 14psi
60-200mph 16 psi
Kinda like having traction control.
I also end up looking at the power meter to see how fast I am going since my aftermarket steering wheel makes it card to see the needle when I am cruising around 70mph.
The 0-50 speed thing is ok too but it would be much better if it was 0-60.
There may be some value in the power settings during street tuning to let you know if you have improved your power but I have never used it for that.

Ok i entered PW loss. I put 2955lbs because i figure at worst, the FD weighs 2800lbs, give or take some lbs. I weight nearly 150 so i just put 2955.
So today i drove the car to the pizza place. The car was still cold so no boost but i tell you one thing, according to this device, i made 83hp @ 4000rpm.
LOL @ non seq lag.
I wanna see when i do some WOT runs. I know its not accurate but its a ballpark figure.

Ok, finally got my car on the damn highway for some cruising, then decided to do a couple of 3rd and 4th gear pulls.
Im a bit cheap on my revs, so i shift at about 6500rpm max.
On a 3rd gear pull, i managed a 286hp, stopping at around 6200-6500rpm.
This was at 9psi, weight inputted at 2955lbs, 2wd on the meter.
I know its not accurate but its an estimate ball park. Now 286 i do believe because i have bolt ons and im sure my engine is a bit tired, not to mention i let off at around 6500rpm. I know the car can still make more power if i went up to like 7200 or so.
