What does this mean? Oil coolers no longer have any ducting to guide air to them?

That is correct. That is why I purchased the R-Magic oil cooler ducts.

The 99 bumper oil cooler inlets have a larger opening & deeper shroud.

Sled driver: where did you get the Rmagic ducts? Any pics of mounted fitment?
I have the RE ones and find they push the skin down on the top sides of the oil cooler ducts.

Which skin are you using?

And do they make brake ducts for the 99 bumper? Any pics?

I have the “99 spec front bumper oil cooling ducts” as have been described to me,and is on the purchase slip from corksport, which is the black plastic trays that reside under the oil coolers. And the RE oil cooler ducts, which unfortunately I do not have a pic with the skin on, but it does make the top skin of the oil cooler duct protrude down to my disliking.

Can't you just trim the top of the ducts back a bit so they dont rest on top of the skin anymore?

No, if I were to cut them to that point they would hang past the skin and it would look horrible! They bow down where the skin is strait across on the top section of the oil cooler duct.

Kinda like this but rotated CW 90degrees [)

How are they made? Can you post a pic(s) if one(s) is available?

"From Japanese Model 99-00 RX-7. Recommended when ordering 99-00 style front bumper assembly.

F138-50-A21 AIR GUIDE, FRONT BUMPER $29.25"

What is this exactly?

Also interested in pics of brake ducts and outlet diameter.

The '99 spec airguide is EXACTLY the same as the stock '93-'95 airguide except it is missing the bottom part (3 rods of plastic that bolt to the bottom of the 'mouth' on the bumper skin). So you could just cut the bottom part off of your original airguide and save yourself 30 bucks.

I think the updated 99 spec rebar has those 3 bars instead of the airguide. I could be wrong though.

You completely answered my question. thanks

still would like to see/ know more about the 99 brake duct inlets to see how they will work with my N-Tech brake ducts.

are you sure? I have both the airguide (posted the linked thread) and the 99 spec rebar. There is a plastic piece that comes down and clips to the bottom of the opening of the main inlet mouth. Is that what your referring to? If it is, than that is seperate from the airguide.

edit* oops I understand what you are saying now. There is a plastic part that clips to the 99spec rebar that goes to the bottom of the mouth inlet opening. For the people reusing and modifying the stock rebar, I wonder how they are getting around this??

No, I'm not sure haha. I do believe I said "I could be wrong" And I suck at explaining stuff online, so my apologies.

The USDM airguide has a lower portion that connects to the lower part of the main inlet mouth. This is a seperate piece on the 99 spec front.

Here's a pic from the parts cache to help explain:

haha, yeah I could have worded it better. The lack of sleep is getting the better of me.

I have the updated airguide, '99 spec bumper, and old rebar installed without any problems. I don't think you really need that extra support there, it seems fairly solid and I haven't had any problems. I was considering fabricating a support there sometime, but I'm not in a hurry.

LOL cool! That makes more sense. The body shop took off my stock guide and tossed it before I even had a chance to check it out. The thing about the 99 spec guide is it has some openings to get some air from the front of the car as well, theoretically through the license plate opening.

And your right...the support for the lower portion of the bumper comes from a separate piece that is attached to the 99 spec rebar and not the airguide like the stock unit.

So is there even such a thing as a extention that plugs into the plasic undertray/ “99 spec front bumper oil cooling ducts”.

I wish I had a pic I could post of the port on the back of the “99 spec front bumper oil cooling duct” interface with the fenderwell lining, but it is roughly a rectangle about 3/4”x 4”.

Is there a piece that actually clips on to this port and wroughts air into the disk cover plate?

that's them. Sorry don't have any pics ;o/

I guess my question is...Will the 3"? hoses coming off of the N-Techs have a circular area to clamp down onto on the tail ends of the 99 brake duct inlets?

What do they consist of just flex line and connectors to mount to there respective air ports?

Have you noticed any difference in hard braking sessions? Anything noticeably different or substantially better having the ducting??
