Question passenger door handle late engage

I've WD-40'd the cable on our passenger side outside door handle, it definitely works easier. But, it only "engages" or opens the door if it it pushed/pulled all the way vertical. Is there an adjustment to make it catch earlier?

Right now, you pull up the handle and nothing engages -- unless you pull it Way up, then it opens fine.

thanks for any help.

its a common problem with the FD. I took my door handle apart and Bent the arms so that they are abit longer. That helped with the engagedment

i had the same problem and bent the metal in like one600 said, but eventually the plastic went bad again and almost "locked" me out of the car. my question is where can i buy the replacement plastic handles at? and has anyone made these out of metal yet? if so please post a link. i need these ASAP!!!

yes i already know mazda does not sell just the small plastic triangle handle but the entire door handle assembly which is like 300 a door. id rather not pay that if dont have to.

you can try Ramy...

www.fdnewbie.com

He might be able to source just the handle piece itself, or he might be able to source some aluminum handles.

and yeah, while the FD door handles are astetically pleasing, they are junk quality(one of the things sacrificed to keep the car light, I'd imagine).

ive seen the amemiya and feed ones selling for ~$390 shipped for a pair but they're plastic. oem replacements are a bit less i think.

machined aluminum handles are sold by someone on the forum.. something like $125 each.

ahh.. I just realized the FEED is just a carbon cover which is of no use. The RE one is the complete handle mechanism

i myself need a new driver's side door handle, mine snapped off cuz it seized up and i put too much strength. i opened the assembly and WD-40'd some of the mechanisms in there but to no avail, i can only move the assembly by hand but using the handle from the outside is a no-go. gonna be opening up my door this weekend to see what gives. sent in a request to FDnewbie, hope they got em!

If he still makes them, please post back in this thread saying so. I'm going to need new handles doon too, and I don't see the sense in paying out the *** for new OEM handles every 5 years.
