Parts for an Alternator rebuild

Where can I pick up the parts to rebuild an Alternator for the FD?

Brushes, diodes, rectifiers, bridges, etc. The whole shebang. Are there other alternator parts (GMC, Ford, etc) that can be put in if specific parts can not be found?

You can get any OEM parts from your Mazda dealer. I recommend Ray at Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge. Even if you're not local it's absolutely worth it.

That said, I've never heard of anyone on this forum talking seriously about rebuilding their alternator. I know it's possible, but it's not been discussed much.

I went through this recently. OEM parts will cost as much or more than the mazda reman. Malloy charged 175 for a reman plus a 75 dollar refundable core charge.

You could go aftermarket for around 125-150 but its not mazda.

I've found the aftermarket components however trying to order them is the tricky part. I'm throwing out a guess of around 50-80max for a regulator, and rectifier. However every place I get wants me to open a business account. Not exactly something I'm really interested in doing ATM. I suppose I could call them and ask for prices and shipment to my place... we'll see. Anyone have any online locations that I can put in the numbers and get a quote?

Here's a few links that I posted on the Rotary-Car-Club-Forum and figure I could post them here as well.

However can anyone verify these for me?

You got some excellent advice - buy a rebuilt or new from Malloy. Scrap the old one.

Take it or leave it. You will end up wishing you got a new one.
