Painted Upper Intake Manifolds

Painted Upper Intake Manifolds
I have removed my upper intake manifold and I am debating wether to have it polished or painted. I have seen tons of pics of polished UIM's but I have never seen one painted on a car. I am thinking of matching it to my R1 strut tower bar. There is one on ebay right now that is painted some HOK Candy Red. What do you guys think I should do? Polish or Paint? I am installing a Greddy FMIC and will have the polished pipes and the polished Greddy Intake hard pipes as well. -- Scott

Hey Scott,
Funny you should ask about that now. tnt just posted pics of his car:

I think it looks nice painted if you have other parts to match.

My problem is that I have the Red R1 strut bar, yellow Greddy filters, and Blue silicone hose clamps. So it may look kind of stupid with all those colors. I wish that the hardpipes would come with red silicone adapters instead of blue. I could also change the filter color from yellow to red I think. I am still debating but I am taking the UIM to the paint shop tomorrow for either polishing or painting. Thanks for the pic Mahjik. Did you receive the Blitz IC yet?

Don't paint it, anodize it red or powder coat it candy red, it looks like it's been anodize. The only thing wrong with powder coating is that it retains heat, not much though. There's a shop near my house that powder coats car parts like valve cover, suspension parts, engine block, or the whole chassis.

Just finished repainting the passenger door panel this morning before work, thank goodness. Today's rain wasn't going to be helping with my painting schedule.

Jet Hott has that coating called "Sterling Silver" I beleive that looks polished and will probably never dull. The polished look is a "clean" look that almost everyone likes however, if you paint it and have other different colors under the hood, they might think you are friends with Richard Simmons.

Lane Change,
Just buy silicone house from Baker it is liek 20$ a foot. I bought both sizes, and replaced eveything. It is great knowing you can cut your won silicon couplers anytime you want, and that they all match perfectly.

Either that or you can sand it down so it doesn't stay bumpy and send it to Jet Hot. That way you get function as well as form.
