Question Only the right rear tire is wearing out

what could be the cause? My right rear tire is wearing out more than the left. Possible cause: When I turn hard on corners, my right rear wheel hopes. But why only the right rear ???

get a 4 wheel alignment, hopefully that'll help
if something is terribly wrong the technicians will probably bring it to your attention and you can go from there

Quite possibly a worn rear toe-link.

Since the tire "hopes" it won't wear out it is really not seriously enough about life. It should be praying.

Seriously....

If the tire is hopping, you need a new shock(s). I'd check the toe control links like Micheal mentioned.

A worn (soft or loose) trailing link bushing can cause more wheel hop than normal. Every time the wheel hops and the tire comes back into road contact while spinning, it is wearing away the tread.

Just because an alignment was done doesn't mean it was done correctly. If this problem was caused by camber you should be able to see that visually. If you grab the wheel when it's in the air, is there any play in it? I'm betting it's a toe issue.

I took suspension apart and the shock was fine. toelink bushing was quite soft....i was able to move it with a little push with my hand... I was thinking theres something wrong with my Diff. since i have 140k on it.

My car did the same EXACT thing, same wheel and everything. I ended up thinking it was the toe links, and ended up buying the trailing arms, and toe lilnks from RX7store. While installing them, and some new RS*R springs, I looked at the shock. Fluid was all over the the damn thing. I went out and bought 2 used shocks from a fellow FD shop, and installed them. The "wheel hopping" disappeared, and the back end feels very stable.

PS- Turbojeff knows his sh*t.

Well I just installed the toe links, while i was at it i checked my shocks and they both looked pretty good. I'll go for test drive later on and see if theres any difference.

ok, here is the result from replacing the toe links.

I also used to have wheel hop during the turn but after replacing the toelinks the wheel hop problem was fixed. However, the "bump!" sound from the rear during the hard shift you are talking about on the other thread was not fixed. (I have Centerforce dual friction clutch) Possibly, when the clutch engages rough, the power is being transferd to the drive shaft causing the diff to move due to the worned out dff mounts? Wonder if that is the cause...I'm changing my clutch to ACT SS soon.
