One of my Tein Flexes is leaking, What do I do?
I just noticed a big oil streak on my driveway and after inspection found it was my drivers rear shock. I have the tein flex coilovers. I have absoulutely loved these shocks, and they look rebuildable. I have rebuilt mountain bike coil/oil shocks before and woudn't shy from taking these apart. Anyone have any experience with these or know where I can find information about parts or rebuild kits. Thanks.

I purchsed the set on ebay from japan. They were unmarked, as new, but without paper work. I think they were damaged through operator error (By me). After some research I obtained some paperwork on them at tein usa. The dampers have 24 clicks on them, but are advertised as 16 way adjustable. Now I learn the instructions actually say that you need to stay away from the 8 hardest settings otherwise damage may occur. I contacted tein usa and feel confident that they will treat me right. I don't expect any warranty, but hope to be able to rebuit it my self.
I replaced my Koni Yellow coilovers with this set and there is no comparison in ride quality and structural build. I will give you all an update on how tein is. So all of you with teins, stay away from those tempting "too hard" settings. Or just be smarter than me, and read the instructions before operating! If the damage was caused from setting them on the out of range levels its unfortunate that they can be damage with a slight mixup on dialing. Anyone out there every had to rebuild one of these, or had tein rebuild one? Thanks Guys.

i run ( since '99) RS*R coil overs which are actually rebadged Tein HAs which are the same shocks as the current Tein Flex product.
i also own a shock dyno and have dynoed all 16 adjustments in both compression and extension. you are absolutely correct as to the harder settings being the cause of seal failure . the shock is almost locked solid as you pass the halfway point of adjustment. BTW, i run fronts at 8 clicks from full soft and the rear 2 clicks.
like you, i LOVE my Tein coil overs. they are beautifully built and are a reasonably priced for what they offer... if you shop around i think they can be bought for less than 1K. these are NOT cheapie built coil overs. Tein, like Eibach is first class.
