Old School Super Dragger
well I've found an old school super dragger VERY VERY cheap and i'd like to give it a shot on the FD. Its in pretty good shape and looks like its 3inch piping from the pics.
However, I've read over on fd3s.net that even though the tip is 5 inches! the inside only flows 2.5inches because its dual chambered for japan?
Is this true of all the old super draggers or just the ones manufactured in japan?
I've read somewhere that someone (I think goodfellas) had the super dragger and thought it was a great exhaust only after gutting the interior?
How is this accomplished? Does the exhaust have to be cut open and rewelded or can you use like a big 3inch hole saw and just start at the tip and drill till you hit the bend in the exhaust tubing?

I'm not sure about other super draggers, but mine had 3.75" piping and a 5.5" tip. Mine's the old school style, and I love the hell out of it. It's ugly as sin, but it flows great and sounds awesome.
I have no idea about the size inside the actual cannister though. It looks the same size as the rest of the piping.

I have the same one, i acutally took my Apex-i GT spec out for the Drager, mine is also the same size SLOASFK mention, 3.37 piping with a 5.5 tip. The reason i bought it was the same reason you are wery about it, it is alot quiter then my apexi, it was a trade off i was willing to take. if you want a high flow 4'in exhaust i got a Apex-i for sale if your intrested.

There were a few different iterations of that exhaust produced over the years HKS made them. There was a version which was extremely restrictive, almost more so than the stock exhaust.

I know the later ones looked a lot different from the early ones. I've seen pictures of other cars with Super Draggers and the cannister and tip looked completely different from mine. Most notably they were smaller and not as rounded around the seams.

So, you're the one that won it on Ebay . I had a bid set up on it, but I need another cat-back like I need a hole in my head .
The restrictive HKS cat-backs are SUPER old school - not sure if that's the one or not. Running it is the easiest way to find out. Should be relatively quiet with that large muffler as well.
If it is restrictive, you can always cut the baffle out, should help.
BTW, there was one pretty quiet exhaust I swapped on my car and you could TELL the difference - like 20-30 horse EASY. It's surprising what a difference an exhaust can make.

well, currently I have 3inch dp, 3inch midpipe, and stock catback piping w/ 2.5inch no name muffler Really need to find a decent catback...running without the catback requires me to turn down set boost by 8% on my Profec Spec II so exhaust does matter
