Ok, help with the ring between the clutch fork and the pressure plate

While installing my tranny, i have everything done, but i have to push that keeper ring, (i dont know what its called) Inside the pressure plate, and then the clutch fork into it. Well while doing that i bent on of the teeth. I really dont feel like dropping the tranny again due to the fact i dont have a tranny jack available anymore. If i get a long pair a needle nose pliers i think i can straighten it.
But how do you actually get that ring into place, i tried for a while, i just cant get it.

That's the "wedge collar" and "wire ring".

The wire ring is literally just a ring-shaped piece of wire, and the wedge collar is the formed sheet metal piece with "teeth" that go between the fingers of the diaghram spring on the pressure plate. The wire ring snaps into the collar, with the wire on the engine side of the diaghram spring, and the collar on the transmission side. Then the throwout bearing snaps into the collar, which allows the fork/bearing to pull back on the fingers of the diaghram spring.

You should have assembled the collar/ring before installing the trans - I don't know how you could do it otherwise. If the collar/ring is already assembled, are you asking how to snap the throwout bearing into it?

If that's the case, the tranny has to come down, so you can remove the pressure plate and be sure it's put together properly.

The wire ring/collar is very important, either you take it apart and be sure things are good now, or wait for the car to get stuck in gear while on the road. I hope you see which option is the obviously bad idea.

I agree completely - it's a critical piece, and if you aren't sure it's installed correctly, you should definitely double-check it.

Malloy or any other Mazda dealer. The ring and collar are around $20/ea.
