The price you got was Ray's price. I think I talked to him like 2 months ago about one and it was 760 or something.

1,500-3,500 is because either they don't know what they are talking about or are convinced you don't know what you are talking about.

Actually, on big parts like that Ray is giving a massive price break below retail.

Local dealers, if they get you the right part, will often quote *more* than retail price. I have seen double the Malloy price when talking to local dealers, the few times I've ever bothered.

It also helps a lot if you're fluent in the parts catalog - if you fax in the part numbers with Mazda descriptions Kelly has filled orders for me before. But no doubt if the order is more than a few items it's better to wait and have Ray look it over.

Well as you know it depends on the part. That scanned manual isn't always a smooth and easy path to the answer.
