Oh Ray Crowe, where for art thou?

I need a main engine harness. . . . he's out of the office till monday, and every other mazda stealership has quoted me anywhere from $1200.00 - $3500.00 . . . . . I talked to Ray a week ago and he told me $750.00. I **** my pants when he told me $750.00. In a good way

He has other counter people that will give his pricing. Call and let them know what Ray quoted to you.

Sweet. Overnight shipped, and still got the $750.00 price. I thought it was a forum thing Ray did for us. John helped me out. Another thumbs up for the crew at mallow mazda.

Wicked awesome. Thanks impactwrench.

Actually, often when I call and he is not available, everyone else refuses to speak with me when I tell them I need rx7 parts. They are like "Ray is the one you need to talk to, he handles all the rx7 stuff". I am like "so you can't help me, you can't take my order so it can ship today?". "No, Ray will be back next week."

The other people that work there arent familiar at all with rx-7 parts, when I order from them I typically get the wrong part, so it's really not worth bothering.

I know he's going to be gone for until at least monday or tuesday, looks like he took a long weekend.

Yea, I have learned to only place orders when Ray is there no matter how fast I need them. His other co-workers try but I guess Ray sets such high standards they arent easy to live up to. Hope you get the right harness.

I've had the same thing. I even told the guy I had the part number and he still said I had to way for Ray. Let's just hope Ray doesn't get tired of working there.

I would think that if Ray ever left, Malloy would continue with the pricing that he has been giving to us. Think about it, how many people on the forum use that 1 dealership for all of their OEM parts. I bet they sell a thousand percent more rx7 parts than any other dealer in the world.

It doesnt have to do with the pricing, it has to do with someone competent and knowledgeable enough to actually send the proper part in the proper quantities.

The last three or four times I've bought from them someone else took my order. I also had the part number...but then I was getting some relatively common parts...IIRC a rear brake caliper was my last order. No internal engine parts or anything needing technical insight. Maybe that's the difference.

Oh man. . . . . I really hope John knows his stuff. bc all the other places quoted me over a grand for it, with the most expensive being almost $3k . . . .

I called a few places around the US, and they were hovering around 1500. . . . So i hope there isn't more than one main engine harness. . . . It is being next day aired, so i'll have it tomorrow. . . . . but now you guys have me gritting my nails over the possibility of getting a wrong part.

Ya, I know that, but all the stories about wrong parts has me antsy. I've been waiting forever to turn the key to my FD again. . . . so i'm on cloud nine, but the wait is hell

speaking of which, this may have been covered RHD japan has engine harness for 580 shipped

https://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/Maz...-13B-REW-50375

thats 16bit though, can you run this with 16bit PFC? does it matter? just wondering. I have the original harness and a PFC in my car and i'm wondering if i can use a 16bit harness when the time comes.

i'm just concerned that at some point there might not be any more 8bit harnesses where the 16bit was in production for much longer. The price of 8bit harnesses continues to climb but the 16bit harness is around the price i remember the 8bit being a few years ago.

The 16 bit harness is made for a RHD car, some or all of the connectors running to the engine won't be long enough.

8bit harness is listed for 725 shipped, but i guess we have our answer anyway. some day when an 8bit harness is really 1000+ or even 3000 maybe we'll have to improvise 16bit harnesses or something.

yeah i think they just added it to the catalog , edited my post lol

edit: i looked at my 8bit harness vs the pictures of the 16 bit. it doesn't look all that different, does anyone have both harnesses to make a side by side comparison?

Honestly what we need is to find the connectors themselves so we can roll our own harnesses. I'd be all over that if somebody knew where to get them.

im trying to get a few details about re-wrapping from some of the forum members that have done it(i think). doesn't seem like it would be all that much work. insulator break-down is basically the main reason harnesses need to be replaced, so some diy might be able to rescue them.
