Non Sequential - Drop of boost after 4500 ~7psi

Boost build at about 3800RPM to 10psi then all of a sudden drops at 4500 down to 7psi the stays steady..... Any ideas... Basic conversion, wiring actuators and removing hoses, i know this is done correctly, im just wondering what would cause this to fail.

sounds like your wastegate is going wide open at the "transition".

might be your pre cat maybe? Jeff told me the drop to 7 psi at higher rpm's may be a result of a pre cat that is starting to clog up...

if you have a downpipe disregard please

Well if you read his mods you would see that indeed he does have a dp.

Maybe a turbo malfunctioning, wastegate malfunction...something like that. Does not sound like a boost leak since you are getting full boost and then it drops.

Since it is not listed, I assume you still have a stock ecu.
You have a Dawes Boost Controller. How was it installed? How much of the actuators, solenoids, and hoses were removed? Let me tell you why I ask.

If you installed the Dawes between the turbo "Y" pipe outlet and the WG actuator as it should be, but still have the WG actuator outlet pipe connected to the WG solenoid and that is still controlled by the ecu, I know exactly what your problem is.

The Dawes can be used to totally control boost by itsself, or used with another boost controller to help build boost faster. If used with the stock ecu to help build boost then you will get the high/low boost pattern because that is the way the stock ecu is programmed.
The 4500rpm drop point should have made it apparent to you. Makes the Dawes a stand alone boost controller, then you will not have this problem.

When I went non-seq 3 years ago, I played around with boost control to see what would happen and what worked best with my XS reprogrammed ECU. I have something similar to the Dawes.

First remove the outlet hose from the WG actuator outlet pipe that leads up to the WG solenoid. If you have a bleed off jet in the inlet/Dawes side, remove it from there and place it on the WG actuator
outlet pipe venting to air.

Your setup should be: "Y" pipe outlet nipple --> hose --> Dawes device --> hose --> WG actuator inlet nipple --> WG outlet nipple --> hose --> bleed off jet.

I have the Hallman device which was made for turbo DSMs. The bleed off jets that came with it were way too large. I use one with a 1/16" diameter hole.

You can not use a stock or reprogrammed ecu to control boost for non-seq without having more boost below 4500 than above.

I'll let you figure that on your own. If you can't, then you should not be working on cars.

I believe the reason most people hate the forums are because of immature reactions such as yours. Chuck was trying to help you.

To answer your questions ... you can go to most any performance shop and have them drill out a NOS jet to your specified size. This jet can then be pushed into a short section of silicon hose and attached to the other port on your WG actuator. Or you could purchase a small needle valve from home depot and tube it up in place of the jet.
