Noltec motor mount install

just notice the write up for the install is gone.

Anything special for mounting these up? Torque specs on the bolt?

Also, what is the best way to position the mounts so that metal bracket clears the engine parts?

Thanks

I don't recall any specific torque specs. I did add some flat washers go along with the four nylock nuts that came with mine.

IIRC, looking at the the crossmember from below and facing the front of the car, I indexed the mounts with the brackets pointing roughly at 4:o'clock (driver's side) and 7:00 O'clock (passenger side).

Great! Will give this a go with resealing the oil pan with the new mounts.

Thanks Jim!

The only thing I wish I would have done was shave them a bit. They will raise the engine a bit. I recall reading somewhere about how much but dont remember. Maybe someone can chime in w/ how many millimeters?

I didn't bother to measure, but didn't see any difference when holding them up next to my old OEMs mounts. If there is a diffrence in height, I don't think it's much and it may compress over time. At any rate you can't "shave" Noltecs.
I did post up a thread on raised engine height, but IMO that was primarily due to the thickness of an oil pan brace (3/16") that I installed at the same time.

^^

The Engine mounts come with locking nuts and they do raise the engine I would say about 3/16.

The Engine mounts are made to take some lateral motion as well as vertical contrary to others so you must make sure that they don't touch the subframe. If I remember correctly the tightening torque is 80ft/lbs but that seems high in my mind maybe it was 65ft/lbs.

hmmmm...I shaved the motor mounts to take into account the garfinkle oil pan brace. I hope that's enough....my engine is already really close to the strut bar.

Me too, but still unsure how much was as a result of the Noltecs and how much was due to the Garfinkle pan brace. I should have just had the steel motor mount arms milled down 3/16".
FWIW I cut spacer from a piece of 1/4" thick ABS sheet and that was enough with the MS brace....
