is nitrous detectable?

i still have waranty on my FD (original engine with 42K miles) and i'm making 360 whp with 15 psi on stock turbo's. if i put a 50shot of nitrous and blew the motor, is there a way for the waranty company to find out about the nitrous? does it show on the internals?

I think it is but I do not remember what I read about it , plus how many dealer techs would be smart enought to know the signes. plus you would have to remove the system before they see it, alot of trouble to hide the nozzle holes

W/ 360 hp they may not warrant your engine? I had a warranty on my first 3g and the warranty did not cover my rear end because of larger wheels and did not cover a host of other problems due to modifications.... Make sure and read all of the fine print on your warranty. Wow, nice hp numbers for your mods! My rebuild and port is getting done right now so I hope to see rwhp #'s that high myself!

ill tell you what if they have to replace an engine on a car they will look for anything and everything. i had a engine replaced on my type-r and they gave me so much ****. i had to prove to them that an inatke and exhaust couldnt cause an enige to go withonly 36k miles. it would be better to hydro your engine. if you do make sure you replace the stock intake system...

plus they might say that you raced the car then you would be in violation of the warrenty, they tried that **** with me at acura, i ask what the R in type-r stood for, they shut the hell up and gave me a new motor and a loaner car for 2 weeks...

later sully

i'm not taking it to a dealer, my waranty works in any certified shop. i can just pull all of the performance parts out and keep the blown engine in the engine bay.

so... nitrous is not detectable.. unless they see the holes in the intake. it really shouln't be detectable at all... it's just NO2, which is simply more oxygen than the atmoshere, with a nitrogen molecule to stableize the oxygen (so it doesn't blow up in the tank).

It's not detectable. They will read your plugs, and your plugs will say that it ran too lean, and detonated. That's about it.

You'll have to plumb it into the intake elbow though, and they WILL see the hole you put in it. So if you are going to do this, I suggest you find another intake elbow on ebay or in the classifieds on this forum and install a good one without a hole when your motor blows.

also, make sure you don't drill any detectable holes in the body of your car, for the nitrous line.

I got a warranty from API that allows me to do anything to the car that I want, and it's still covered.

360whp @ 15psi on stock twins, with a 50-shot? I guess it will be 'when', not 'if'.

i'm not planing on spraying with 15 psi, i'll turn it down to 12 psi and put a 35 wet shot. the boost shouldn't spike to more than 15 psi i guess, what do you guys think?
i'm running rich even when i'm boosting 15 psi and nitrous is going to have it's own fuel

i thought that nitrous on a turbo car is more effective than on an NA. i was told that a 35 shot should help me gain atleast 40 whp because of the cooling effect and the boost spiking.

Did anyone hear about the rental Neon which some guy used a 150-175 shot of nos on, it ran about 11's-13's but only once or twice...

I'm pretty sure they just routed the hose for the nitrous in to the intake box and ducttaped it shut/closed...

Yeah i read that article about the neon ... the way the author worded everything made it sound all innocent. heheh They made a high 15 second car, run low 13's with a huge shot of nitrous.

Ok ... on topic though. Why would you even want to run nitrous with 360 whp??

You have a warranty ... you're already pushing the injectors ... have you upgraded those?

Nitrous is detectable with a simple lab test. I kinda doubt they'd do that, though.

i have stock injectors, but nitrous gets its own fuel so it shouldn't run lean.

Whoa, hold on, your running 360rwhp on stock injectors??? and your gonna put a wet shot of nos on top of it? Well I guess that is one way to kill an engine. You are already pushing your engine to the limits as is...
Im not sure if your warrenty will cover it, double check your policy to make sure they will cover everything from turbos to engine.

Also, I just noticed that you are running 15psi on a stock intercooler Thank god you have warrenty. I guess the 50 shot of nos will be enuf to push you over the edge and get you a new engine. Heck, shoot a 100-150 shot and speed up the process

P.S. I gotta see your A/F ratio, post it please
