$4000 tune up at Pettit? I don't think so, he might be expensive, but it was like $4500 for him to streetport and rebuild my motor, so for him to charge $4000 for a "tuneup" there had to be something seriously wrong with the car. Looking at the engine bay, only pettit parts I see are intake and AST, so not sure if that was included in the price or not.

For anyone seriously interested in buying this car, don't forget to get a compression test, NEVER buy a working fd solely based off pictures.

Nice find Fritz!

I'm guessing he had the exhaust, intake etc... added and I'm also guessing he has the receipt. However regardless of compression #s if the title is good, it doesn't have rust, the interior, paint, tires, class, susp etc... is good it's a decent deal and would probably sell for 7500 as a roller.

There are some truly remarkable deals in all the car markets right now. Which is why all those nuts on autotrader will be keeping there precious FDs month after month.

Chances are if an FD is listed for 20k plus on autotrader the seller has been relisting it month after month for atleast 12 months. You think the fools would adjust the damn price and realize it's no longer 1999 lol.

wow, if i only had enough money to buy another one! i thought the reserve wasn't met yet either. the 15 ms wing just looks wierd on a stock car. nice car though, i agree that it is well worth that price. mostly stock so you could start from scratch.

Yep the 15nth anniversary MS wing is definitely a rather unigue flavor. I have one that's brand new though if anyone is interested

Yah the wing and the chrome wheels would have to go.

I am thinking it will bid up to 11 or 12. At 9K it would be worth it even if it needed a short block for me.

Its amazing how things change for me, when these cars were new I loved the stock wheels....now its hard to imagine having the OEM wheels on one for any amount of time.

Whoever won the r2 auction just picked up a $16-17k car for $9800.00. Not a bad deal at all, if I didnt have 4 at the moment I would have bought it. That was the worst place to sell an R2, on autotrader or this site you could dump that car for $14k in less than a week.

I also saw the LS car on ebay last week, almost cheap enough for me to consider owning one, would make a great DD with the AC reinstalled.

I guarantee whoever bought that car was looking on autotrader and probably from this site If you want your FD sold in a week you'd better give it away no matter where you sell it.

Right now on this forum there's an R1 w/ FM5s, 50k miles etc....selling for 15k and it won't sell this week or next for 15k because there are too many other buying oppurtunities that are much more attractive.

Unless it's a track car built for the gods my LSX car will have a corvette badge on it. I can't believe the deals right now on C6 Z06s. Those things are super cars selling for 40k and lower. Put some slicks and pads on it and SHAZAM, low 2 minute laps at VIR.

Yea, but you know what it is like selling a R2, CYM, or Chaste White. They still sell fast, of course I am lucky and have a website that is well known for selling FDs at good prices, I have just been too busy building engines the last couple years to focus much on car sales.

As for the c6 z06 comment, I agree. You can also pick up Gen 3 vipers in the high 30s, 2000+ 360 modenas in the 70s and Gallardos in the 80s. I guess some good does come from a bad economy

Lets just say some folks have a better ability than others to sell cars. Legend has it that a well know seller sold a stock 95 VR r2 for 18 or 19k w/ similar miles earlier this year Now that was a brilliant sale.

I agree, I am not sure even that car is a "quick sale" at $14K in this market..

Yes the C6Zs are sweet have you stopped by a dealer to see the 09? I dont know what they changed other than the wheels but they have taken it to another level in the looks.

I also read on one of the forums that I guy did some extensive track testing and logged oil pressure while on "slicks". He was able to eliminate the oil starve problem with the early dry sumps with a lower oil tank replacement that cost less than $300. That was the only issue I had with them...why dry sump if you cant run hard at the track w/o oil starve problems.

I guess the 09s (or 08s?) and later have a modified tank that also eliminated the problem.

I dont know why people are having such a hard time selling some cars right now, the military guys are eating them up. The market is flooded with a lot of run down rough condition cars but quality fds are still moving pretty easily, the R2 in the add looks pretty nice. I have people knocking down my door trying to buy the 93 VR car I have had on our site forever as "coming soon" as I just dont have time to get it back on the road due to other work. It is a 93 VR/Tan Touring with 50k miles for $13k, probably the most common fd out there, it is nice though

Im scared to list the 95 car I bought as "coming soon" as I dont feel like responding to all the emails I will receive. There is no doubt the market has dropped substantially, but most people simply do a horrible job of advertising their cars for sale, you get back what you put in.

Brent/Fritz if we are going to split a car lets get the Gallardo, Ill throw in $30k if I get it 4 months out of the year

No doubt the military guys have the cash to spend on toys and I've definitely seen a few of those crazy military checks, God bless America and all that but WOW we will be paying for it a LONG LONG time. I also agree with trying to list your car with a great ad but usually and especially on this forum the quality of the ad will often times match the car.

If you toss in 30 and brent tosses in 30 and you guys each get it for 4 months each I'll take it for the remaining 120 days for 20k

Look in all the usual places and you should be able to get a c6 Z w/ 20k plus miles for 40k or lower. Here's an example:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-42-500-a.html

A little higher but one of the better deals I've seen because of the mileage. Probably sold for a little less than 42,500 but with 7000 miles that was a helluva deal.
