new twin turbo kit from RX7store.net?

does anyone know anything about these ?

i believe the kit is from border racing (the site is finicky and won't let me link to the exact page, you have to click turbo kits, then the RE13b link)

i can't read japanese (yet?) but mr babelfish and i made a rough translation from border site, the turbos are APEXi ax53b70 p25, it's a bolt up kit, oil/water cooled, response simliar to stock turbos, capable of 500hp, i don't think the kit includes IC piping, so it would have to be fabricated.

there are a couple of pics in the hyperREV no72 of an engine bay with these installed, looks really good. i can't get my scanner to work though.

does anyone know any more about this setup?

It isnt the border racing kit. It is made by A-spec.

interesting because that link on rx7store says A-spec right on top of the pic... but hell what do I know?

The pic might very well be borders, but the one the 7store is selling is from A-spec, unless my computer is giving me BS.

if you right click the pic and save as... from the rx7store.net, it saves as bordertwinkit.jpg. that's how i found out it was made by border. the pic i linked is from www.border-racing.com . price and information isn't listed on the store website yet. i guess jason will tell us all about it when he's good and ready. i was just wondering if anyone else out there knew about this kit?

I went to babelfish and translated that stuff on border's site it said...

The AX turbine of the APEX make (oil cooling and water cooling type) 2, the KIT which installation it is possible with volt/bolt on was set. It is the response like the normal turbine and the KIT in order to assure the compatibility of peak power like the big single turbine. It is the unit which 500ps over makes possible. Being to be the water cooling combined use turbine, also durability is sufficient. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Corresponding model: Approximately FD3S MC standard price: XXYEN 75 and 0000 Yen turbine less KIT XXYEN 450000? KIT contents: AX53B70 P25 (x 2) SuscEx manifold 50 phi (x 1) Sus extension 60 phi (x 2) Sus front pipe 60? 76 phi (x 1) air suction BOX etc The turbine -> the piping of the I / C is not included in the KIT. Adjusting to the I / C installation it is done, please produce. Please remove the air pump. At this corporation catalyst of air pump less business in the midst of setting.

from the yen price i saw in that it is around 3,780.96 it looks like it says turbine less so??? damn backwards sentences lol

I saw those on the Border site some time ago too.

I think that they are saying that the turbos less the "kit" would be about $3780 and the kit with turbos would be about $6300 (750000 Yen...based on today's exchange rate).

500 ps is about 493 HP. I am assuming that is at the flywheel. With 15% drivetrain loss, that is about 420 RWHP.

Unless they are quoting power at the wheels, I see no point to this upgrade. For the price, I would want to see about 550 RWHP without any lag.

Theres a long thread in the Single Turbo forum about the A-spec twins. The border picture was posted as an example of what they will look like. RX7Store uses similar pictures of products alot and not the actual pictures of the products being sold. The A-spec twin isnt out as of yet hence no price or info yet.

Yea, I figured it had to be one of those parts
Lots of bends though (compared to stock manifold + DP). Or am I mistaken ?

That twin kit is made by Border Racing. The delivery time on the kit, from my last request, is 20-24 WEEKS ( very popular in japan I guess). Price would be somewhere around 7500-8000 shipped to your door...

It includes the inatke box and plumbing, but does not include Intercooler piping, so you will have to fabricate something. It uses two internally gated Apex (IHI) Ax53b70 P25 Ball bearing turbos, which according to Apex'i USA are good for approximately 350-375hp apiece. They could not comment definitively on spoolup time, but did mention that this is basically the same frame as the turbos they use for the Civic Kit, with the largest A/R housing they make, and should make peak boost by 3700 RPM or so.. just a guess. I cannot tell if each rotor spools the turbo independently or not, there may be a crossover pipe on the manifold I cannot see. Apex'i USA will also not be able to service the turbos, so if there is a problem, it is a BIG problem...

Other than those issues, the kit is gorgeous and unique - I have seen several pictures in Options magazines of it installed, and have a couple of pictures from Border as well. I looked into getting this for my own car, but couldn't bring myself to do it.. too much $$. You should be able to custom fabricate an internally gated BB twin t3 kit that makes close to the same HP for much, much less, including IC piping, fuel setup and engine management!

The A-Spec kit looks very nice also. With these other options available, and with local support, I can't see the point in importing the Border kit unless you HAVE to be different, or someone else is paying for it =D
