New owner of a couple FD's, minor probs

hey guys

I juss picked up 2 FD's last week. One has a blown motor and the other one is running. On the running one ive run into a few problems hopefully someone can suggest some common issues or fixes.

The steering wheel shakes alot when hitting bumps. Other Cars ive worked on had worn tie rods and caused this problem, is it common with FDs? I dont believe its a wheel balance issue as it only happens with bumps not increasing with MPH. The car has 108k on it. The odometer juss crapped out on me too when coming home.

Any help is appreciated....thanks

On the one, it may just be that the shocks are worn out. Worn out shocks will make an FD a handful. Do not be unsafe, but one way to check for worn shocks is to make a couple quick weaves like you see NASCAR drivers do on pace laps to warm their tires. If the car feels like it is going one way while you are turning the other, then the shocks are probably gone.

Car feels normal from what i can tell. I did the suspension bounce and didnt bounce more then once. its the right side of the car. I hit a section of bumps on the road with the left side of the car and it felt normal then hit the bumps on the right side of the car and the steering wheel starting shaking. I had a front right wheel bearing prob too but fixed that yesterday.

Still seems like a suspension problem to me. If I had that situation I'd just start replacing the shocks. Up front first, then the rear.

If you haven't had an alignment done on the car yet, I would try that also. I forget which is caster and which is camber, but you may not be having the right wheel meet the road at the proper angle and/or it may also be at a different angle relative to the left wheel.

I did an alignment already. Front toe and camber was off along with rear camber i believe. Cant rmeember. That wasnt the prob. We're gonna do the inner and outer tie rods today so ill juss align it tonite after we're done.
As far as suspension, im still figuring out which coilovers or suspension setup i want to go with so ill prolly wait on that.

thanks for the suggestions.
