Look at the size of the exhaust tip in relation to the rear reflector and backup lamp. It appears to be a single 2.5" tip. In addition, what appears to be black spray paint on the tip and the fairly small canister (note the space between the canister and the opening in the rear valance, and the diameter of the canister in relation to the tip) lead me to believe that flow isn't exceptional and that construction was rather cheap. I would expect a canister with a 3" or larger single inlet and outlet to be a bit bigger. I based the statement that it was "ghetto-rigged" on more than just the appearance of the exhaust tip.
People don't usually fabricate a cat-back unless they're trying to save a buck, because there are so many options available and many at very reasonable prices. That would indicate that compromises may have been made on the quality and performance of the canister and tubing.

I have a RB DT on my car.
I do give the individual credit for the effort put into fabricating it themselves rather than just bolting something on which takes some talent, but far less than measuring and welding up an exhaust. Did that on my beater when it rusted out, just to learn how to do it (and saved a few $$$).
It may not be the best combination of parts, but it probably is on par in terms of construction with at least one aftermarket exhausts I've seen.

thanx for the opinions guys!!!...wow..this thread lit up!!....yea ok....i did take the idea from the jgtc cars and the dolphin system especially.....but didnt want to pay thousands to materialize the look on my car.....as for the specs...it is 3in all the way...the canister is a pettit can and the piping is 3in. mandrel bent....i actually had to turn down the gain on my boost controller...so i say the gains are positive....the downward facing tip[ also leaves NO suit on the rear bumper ..and flames shoot nicely to the ground...the sound is quite loud..but it does create a noticeable note.....i am very pleased with the out come so far...keep the comments coming!

Dyno sheet? Before and after?
Well, I'm glad you apparently built your exhaust right. From the appearance though, it looks like a Midas one-size-fits-most canister stolen from a Datsun B210 and given a fresh coat of flat black paint.

well..the two dyno runs required to prove the gains would cost more than the results would be worth.....but if you would lke to fund my "research" i would be more than happy to provide the results and do the work required to make it worth the effort...lol...and as for the black paint...well....i just like it like that :p
thanx for the opinions though!!...i respect everyones views, positive or negative....
and if anyone will host a short MPEG for me, i will take some video of it in all its glory....

Jimlab, that muffler is a pettit muffler, which was on my car. It is a straight through muffler. We traded them(apexi n1) because he wanted to make a turndown, which in my opinion, saves the rear bumper, and actually looks kind of cool. As for the black spraypaint, at night, even during the day, you cant really see the muffler, so instead of having a big chrome 4 inch muffler tip showing, its clean, and sleeper. It sounds good as well, since its aimed at the ground, it resonates straight off the street.

i have already had the APEXi N1 catback(which is now on my friends car) and the pettit single tip cat back.....so i am fully aware of the aftermarket offerings...i just had a change in taste....even if it is a little less than mainstream....lol

I think it might be an XR1
Pettit use to use the old Borla dual tip Catback till it was discontinued. Maybe they stock XR1s for people wanting either a custom CB or a MP XR1.
I think it looks ok. Gives it the sleeper look

congrats, I'm sure it beats the hell out spending 300+ for an exhaust. I think you could have went with a better tip or at least chrome muffler, unless your going for a hidden look or something. I too would like to hear how it sounds and at least see the rest of the piping.
