new engine rebuild, power fc, and audible knock

Just finished engine rebuild and installed a new Power FC with maps that should give me an engine that runs ok. I am getting an audible knock with barely any throttle and my Innovate says Ive got 9.5 - 10.5 A/f ratio. Hmmm!

Any ideas on what could cause this anomaly?

Thanks,
Chuck

Make sure your plug wires are on properly.

You sure its knock? With A/F's that rich, its probably misfiring.

Knock sensor readings and values also indicate that its knocking.

Knock sensor isn't an accurate data source. Its not uncommon for engines to read high knock while cruising around. Knock on a rotary is different then on a piston, to me it sounds like those automated sprinklers on crack.

Other then that, make sure the white CAS sensor is on top.

It was an unusual sound, not like a V-8 dieseling on shutdown. It was almost like a squealing belt on a frozen water pump. As soon as it started making the sound I backed off on the throttle, but any load caused the noise. I was monitoring the knock sensor and the readings went to the max when the noise was evident.

if it is audible cant you make a small video clip and post it here?
maybe that way someone can identify the problem.

Your knock sensor is just a fancy, tiny microphone. If there is other noise, it can pick that up and report it as knock.

get a datalogit and save that map. reset the pfc back to stock/base map and see if it makes a difference.

Are you sure its not your transmission making a knocking sound in nuetral? try pushing in the clutch and see if it goes away.
