Not sure if it helps you out or not, but I'll just throw it out there.
I pulled the carpet from a roller I purchased, and went to install it in my other FD, then found out it was a JDM carpet. I simply cut a spot out for my ECU, and all is fine. There are two small spots where you can somewhat tell that it isn't right, but unless I pointed them out, you wouldn't see them. I've had a few friends in my car and they have yet to point out any flaws with the carpet. Other than that, the seat bolts and everything line up fine.

Yes, the fuel door/hatch release is one of them, and there is a bit of a hole cutout on the passenger side foot well, around where your passengers left foot would rest. Other than that, you just need to make a new cutout for the ECU on the passenger side and you should be good to go. The driver side kick panel and dead pedal covers just about all of the JDM ECU cutout.
I didn't realize I had a JDM carpet until I went to install it 8 months after I bought the car. So, out of necessity, and lack of money, I just went with the JDM carpet. I don't have a problem with it, but don't let me sway into doing something you aren't comfortable with.

You can clean the mold out of your carpet...... take the carpet out and go to town on that bitch with a pressure washer at a fair distance with some soaps and a stiff bristle brush.
leave it hanging in the sun and by the end of the day you'll have a great smelling and clean carpet.
you spend a few hours cleaning, you save a few hundred bucks.
And if its stained, you can dye it yourself.
