New 3rd gen motor...where? how much?
I'm putting a new motor in a 3rd gen for a buddy of mine, and I was wondering where I can get a J-Spec 13BTT???
What about a plain 13BTT?? How much do you think it'd cost?? Any other info is welcome...

From the big list:
"...........as in, zero miles.................as in, never been
used.................not even rebuilds..............straight off the boat
from Japan!!!!!!!!
The Performance Sportscar Parts website will be down while I develop a more
appropriate domain name for the company that more accurately reflects the
parts and services that we offer. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any inquiries, including the latest motor
deal.

"Here are the details about my rotary engine post of yesterday. I currently
have access to three (3) new rotary engines for Mazda's FD Rx7. These engines
are available in short block configuration with all-new components
throughout. Because they are short blocks, there is still a requirement for a
core.
It is not clear to me at this time whether they would come with Mazda's
standard warranty for new components, which is 3 years/50,000 miles. I will
verify this information sometime today (Wednesday). It is also not clear to
me at this time whether more of these motors will be available in the near
future.
To be honest, I anticipated a half-dozen responses to my original post, and
ended up with ten times that number. These engines are available for $3800.00
in US currency. For what it's worth, that allows me a profit margin of
$200.00 per unit (hey.........I'm a full-disclosure type of guy!).
For those who remain interested after reading this more detailed explanation
of what is available, I will follow up by sending private e-mails to all of
those who inquired, and feel it's only fair to do so in the order that I was
contacted yesterday. I will do this after my customary 3-3.5 hours of sleep.
Cheers,
John Duff

new motors
You guys should check the "big-list" archives, I believe they are saved in egroups. If you can find them there were a couple of people that had better pricing on new 13B-REW's. I'd check with Malloy Mazda, Gallery-Group.com , Jim Haas Mazda, and mazdastuff.com They all have discount pricing for oem parts (you have to call about engines). Good luck.

oh, and post any information that you get so others will know.

First, you have to define "new". As in, new to you, or a *NEW* motor.
Mazda remans - which have used parts as well as new parts - run about $2000 and some change. Many people have had great success with them, and they come with a warranty. The motor is just the short block - the main engine itself, with the front cover and water pump housing.
You can get used Jspec engines that are longblocks - basically, they cut whatever holds the engine in the car and you get EVERYTHING - turbos, manifolds, injectors, etc. But, it's pot luck - some are in great shape, some in OK shape, some are blown. You may or may not be able to get a warranty with the motor either.
From the above post, supposedly you can get a *NEW* engine from Mazda that's all new parts. But, a quality rebuild will be just as good if not better than an all-new Mazda stock engine.
You can also go to many of the engine builders out there, and you can literally spend as much as you'd like on a motor.
There's tons of options - just search some and figure out what you're budget is like and what your comfort level is.
