need transmission advice in a hurry

i am offered a transmission for my fd (new transmission), what do you think is a fair amount to pay for it including installation? reason for replacing my transmission is because third and fifth gear grinds and bad throw out bearing. the noise is increasing everyday. do you think it is better to replace or fix? i think it is better to fix as i am looking to upgrade everything and will not have to woory as time goes on (i do everything real slow because of money, but i have about $1500 to spend on tranny).

and while i am fixing tranny what should i look to get to upgrade it (from clutch master, act, etc.)

If you can scape up $2k, get a new trans. Probably want to replace the clutch while you are at it, along with the throwout bearing. Moving to an aluminum flywheel will greatly help your acceleration (but harder to get the car moving from a stop).

tell you the truth i just got the quote including the installation he said $1000. this is for the new transmission. i am alittle skeptical, but i am going to see him tomorrow to find out if there is some kind of waranty with it. i don't need this to crap out on me. this person doesn't also recommended not to get a flywheel for the same reason you mentioned. is there something else anyone recommends while this transmission is out.

i don't want to mention who but vosko is getting his car worked at his shop. i'm cool with this person but i don't know if he'll extend this to anyone else.
