Need to remove 5year old gas
#26
large sheet metal cover about 5" x 5" with a few phillips screws holding it in. just crack the drain plug and let it all out. Im not sure how long gas has to sit to start causing rust etc etc. but I would look to see if the tank is worth your time.

Put the car on stands, carefully remove the drain plug (don't want to knock it off the stands!), drain out the fuel. If it looks good, refill the tank and your done. If it looks bad (rust, wrong color or jellified), drop the tank (less than an hour of work), take it to a radiator shop and have it reconditioned/sealed/pressure tested. While the tank is out pull the fuel lines at the fuel rail and pressure flush the lines with brake cleaning fluid. Put it all back together, you're good to go.
To the poster cleaning parts with fuel, please stop doing this! I watched a shop, next to mine, come within seconds of burning to the ground from their mechanics using fuel to clean parts. Watch a massive fireball blow through your shop and it will be the last time you use fuel to clean parts, if you live through it!

ok...so far, I loosened the drain plug, drain about a couple of ounce of old gas...
a little pooled on the floor, so I put my lighter to it and that small amount lit up on fire...what do you all think...gas is good? It was not jelly like and I'm wondering if the bottle of winterizing gas [dry gas?] I put in about 3 winters ago is holding the gas stable.
Any advice on this? I'm crossing my finger that all is good!

If your car will start on it, then I doubt it will harm your motor IF you drive casually. just start it and let it sit for a few hours. then add some new gas to somewhat dillute it. then do a steam clean.
