Need Help Bad Power Issue

I have a 94 RX7 with a racing battery. I have a new alternator but at times the battery would be drained before i drive it again the next day and i always had a battery jumpstart kit just in case i needed it. Last time i tried to start it, it ticked instead of turning over. so i left it. 2 days later when i tried to start it, there was no power to the car at all. i replaced the battery & also tried to jump start it but no power at all. You turn the key nothing happens, no lights no nothing. Anyone has any clue? If i had a bad starter, it would atleast power something up right? i checked all fuses and none are blown. Please help.....

i actually would consider it the starter. or could be the ring-gear on the flywheel, but thats very rare.

Question

Have you checked to see if you have a draw on the battery when the car is off?

IL No power No Nothing.

I posted this before but now i cant find my post anywhere after hours of searching. My 3rd gen does not get power at all. at first i thought it was the battery so i changed it but its not, still i am not getting power. Someone said it could be the starter or something on the flywheel on the clutch? does that sound right? Yes its a 94 RX with 42,000 original miles on it, any warnings for starters? Now do you need any technical knowledge to replace the starter other than remove the battery first?

You don't need to remove the battery to replace the starter. You do need to disconnect it first.

Look at the FSM in the stickies. Replacing the starter is not hard but you will need to have some sense of what you are doing.

But do you think that is where the problem lies?? there is nothing when i turn the key. there is not even a spark from the battery when you connect both positive n negative, i me that means there is not a full circuit connection. i wnt to check the connection on the starter and banged on it still nothing.

Yes that was the first thing i did. Just prior to this, a few days before, when i tried to start it, it clicked instead, repeatedly, instead of turning over. does that sound like the starter???

Unless something/someone ate all your wires, I'd go back to checking the fuses again. Be sure to check both sets. A fresh battery should at least give you interior lights if all the fuses and wiring are in shape.

i remember your previous thread. i was the one who sugested it could be the ring gear on the flywheel, or a starter problem. but before you start making assumptions on wat it could be, you should prob follow the advise given above ^^

Do the headlights turn on?

Check all the fuses at both fuses boxes in the car, then check the ones under the dash in the driver's side footwell.

No headlight do not come on, no electrical power at all. Are there any other fuses boxes i am missing here other than the 3 boxes under the hood (2 are like together on the right side under the hood and 1 is on the front side just in front of the radiator and the one above the floor board on the driver side??

It sounds more like the ground is not connected properly, not haveing any power is strange. If you have a volt tester check from chassis to battery and see if battery is grounded to chassie.

My ground is straight to the chassis if you can see my attachment. Yeah, no blown fuses, no wires melted or cut.

you need to get a volt meter and start tracing.

i would start at the battery and see what voltage you have there.
or
maybe your ignition switch is bad?

well now sense the top part wasn't in the second thread i have a different idea.

you have something draining the battery and you need to find that before replacing anything else.

just like mahjik advised.

I'm not electrically incline that much so maybe someone else can jump in and elaborate more on how to find it.

what else can be draining the battery? The cheap 2 cent alarm that came with the car (sounds like a girly fart)is not active since i don't lock the doors in my garage, my radio uses no power unless its on and i have no interior light.

If you have no power at all (i.e. no headlights, no radio, etc), then it's most likely a wiring issue (if the battery is good).

Get a tester there cheap and very easy to use, and just becouse something is connected does not mean its macking connection. No one can tell you what to do with out some facts! Like battery voltage, proper ground good connections, fuses, etc. And i have that battery like yours and it will go down in 2 weeks so i use a float charger and then it stays up no problem. And the radio does us power just setting thats what keeps the settings held for the channels.

is that an aluminum bracket holding the battery where the ground wire is connected to the post? get rid of that bracket and see what happens. it sounds like your getting no ground and that aluminum bracket is probably why

does aluminum conduct electricity?? he could put his ground under the aluminun bracket instead of on top of it to see if it works.
