ive checked the cca when it was cold but not when its hot.I was going to do this check as well.It may provide a clue as to what exactly is going on.
After some serious reading I think it may also be the turbo control solenoid above the air control valve. As many people have stated that it fails when its warmed up.T he only thing that gets me is that now once I hit transition the car is limited to 3 psi and no more.Even if I let the car rev down below 4500 rpm's.Something has to be sticking.
Another question. At what rpm's does the system switch back to single mode when I let the car rev down.
Im thinking at about 3000 rpms but I need something concrete on this one.

I had the same problem, 10psi on the 1st turbo then drop to 2-3psi on the 2nd and wouldnt go past and it felt like the car was struggling (I also remember a noise now that I think about it). I replaced the precat with a downpipe and the problem went away, 10-8-10. I started to lose boost again shortly after and found a huge crack in my wastegate hole on the manifold (along with others). I think it was because when the precat was clogged I was getting on it constantly to see if something I had done fixed it so be careful.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. Only got 2psi on the secondary. My mechanic was stumped for a while and redid my silicon lines twice. Once the factory way and the 2nd time the simplified sequential. We also swapped solenoids with known good ones to test that. It seems that the simplified lines and the swapped solenoids helped. We also changed the stock cat for another stock cat as mine looked like it was slightly clogged - couldn't see all the fine mesh particles when I looked in there.
If you are still running the stock pre-cat, I suggest you start by swapping in the downpipe and looking at your main cat to try and see if it might be clogged also. If you still have problems come back here and update us.

yeah.sounds like a plan.the thing is that this problem comes and goes.i would think that if the cat pre cat is clogged up I wouldnt be able to boost all the way up to 10 or 11 psi on the primary.but then again stranger things have happened to other rx 7 owners.
