you definitely could use a vented hood
like 007 said you should get a huge friggin scoot monster hood
I think they are very ugly though, but can't deny they are functional

I see you put the under shroud on, make sure air is not escaping under the radiator though
I cant tell from the pic if there is a gap

Front mounts work fine for anyone with proper ducting. The problems occur when the front mount takes the fresh air in, and then lets it out around the radiator instead of through the radiator.

If you have ducting that keeps all incoming air going through both heat exchangers you will be fine. Impropper ducting is the reason why the FMIC has a bad reputation. That is a fact, there are tons of track cars on here that have FMICs.

I'm not saying its better than a vmount, but I am saying as long as you have propper ducting, it will get the job done just fine.

No worries, like I said, that is why I picked up my GReddy FMIC in the first place. They look cool and give the car a bit more of a sublty aggressive appearance.

Ducting is definitely key with the FMIC. Mine was all blocked off and I also had the small scoop pulling fresh air for just the radiator as well. Like I said my temps were really pretty fine, but they are much better now. Reorienting the radiator really is not that bad and in the vmount configuration is really vents the hot air passing through the radiator out of the bay. Just take your time and think out your brackets and you MUST duct everything well also. Since you can weld, it really will be a simple (but time consuming) conversion.

No offense, but I in no way mentioned getting specifically any version of the "scoot" hood. Although they do a great job at bringin fresh air into the engine bay, personally I think they look terrible and ruin the lines on the FD. I was simply stating if you are getting a hood for functionality do research before dropping a lot of cash on one b/c most are just cosmetic.

If your coolant temps are staying that low and you have not adjusted thier trigger temp, (datalogit with pfc or other ecu system) they come on at much higher coolant temp. I am unsure what that temp is off the top of my head, but a quick search through the FSM or on here would yield you that temp.

Plus you really dont need them coming on at 80C...
