my newly totalled FD

here's the pics i promised. doesn't look like any of the body will be salvagable. depending on how the insurance company handles it, i may just get another FD and swap the parts over. i'm definately buying it back regardless, but i won't now until next week whether i'll be parting it out or going FD shopping again

AHHHHH!!!!!! I hate to see that man. Glad I got to see it in person at least once. I might take some stuff off your hands if you decide to part it. Or maybe I have some misc parts you might need to get another one going.

sorry to hear about that but do you think you would have fared better if you had an airbag? I'm debating about putting in an aftermarket steering wheel and (unfortunately) you're the perfect candidate to tell us whether or not it's a good idea.

Dibs on the drivers side headlight cover

That looks awful. Sorry to see an FD in that condition.

So sorry to see what happened to your FD.
That was one of the best looking FD's I've seen.
At least you are O.K. You can always build another one.

I feel your pain - At least your girfriend is ok. It could have been worse - I totaled my Z06 1 year ago doing 120 and just opened the door and walked out. Good luck on your next car.

my girlfriend was the one driving. she was forced into a guardrail at around 65-70mph, crossed 2 lanes of traffic, through a median, across another 2 lanes, then almost head on into the opposite guardrail. i don't know how she managed to not hit another car. she had a ruptured spleen and had to have it removed. she's lucky that's all that happened. as far as the airbag, i don't see how it could have helped any in this situation, if anything, it would hurt her more than helping. i'm still in total awe that she survived with just a ruptured spleen

At least she is alive. Cars are always replaceable, a life is not. I would definately take whomever forced her into the railing into a major lawsuit (if they did not hit-n-run), for medical and property damages, amongst other things. At least the airbag did not do serious damage as they usually do in severe wrecks.

I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before I am envying the cleanliness your new car-

well, the person that forced her over was an elderly handicapped lady that probably had no idea what she did. the wasn't any contact made with the other car as my g/f didn't want to hurt the car, but there just wan't enough room to make it safely onto the side of the road. there weren't any witnesses close enough to clearly make out the other car. all we have is a description and there isn't a chance in hell of finding the person. kinda sucks, but life goes on. i'm just thrilled that she's still with me. i'll hopefully be building another FD soon. may take some time to get it as nice, but i'm gonna try for it

Sorry for your loss man...
Is the drivers side weather stripping still intact? I'm also looking for the rubber weather stripping between the outside door handle and the window. Tell me what you are going to have available...

It's too bad it never made it to the Revo in 2004...I wish I could have seen it. I was really looking forward to it. I'm most definitely glad your girlfriend is okay. I hate to see any car totalled, it's just a waste of metal. Tell your girlfriend I said screw the old people next time (LOL j/k). Keep us updated on whether or not your are getting a new FD or not and also how the insurance company is handling all of this. I can't imagine how you must have felt to hear about your girlfriend and your car...Good luck with all the decisions you're going to have to make!

Wow, that's worse than I had pictured it to be. I'm glad she's OK though, that's what is important. Best of luck.

OUCH. Man you guys are lucky no one was seriously hurt.

I don't know how the airbag would hurt you more though. Airbags are made for accidents like this, when they go off in small impacts they end up doing more harm than good.

Looks totalled to me btw.

Jesus. Those pics are hard to look at. That car was truly gorgeous. I can see a lot of work went into it. Sorry.
