is my engine gone? again?
so i started up my car today...started right up and idled fine. i get up and walk away giving the car time to warm up....about 15 minutes later i see the the front of the car shaking violently, vaccuum dropped to about 10in. so i proceed to give it just a little gas...this caused the car to backfire a couple of times...hmmm...so i shut the car off for a second and tried to restart it. it doesn't want to...i tried cranking a couple times but nothing. so i crank it for a little longer duration of time and gave it a little gas...it starts up but idle is still bad and engine still shakes.
i checked the map sensor...what else could it be? by the way, engine has a streetport and roughly 1000 miles on it built by a reputable shop...could an engine just let go at idle? thanks in advance for all your help.

LoobRX7 No way man
your plugs probably were fouled and the car shut off because of lack of spark and now it's flooded. This works every time for me. Turn the car off and take out the fuel pump relay in the near 1 foot long box just behind the front bumper. Now crank the engine over for 5 seconds and stop. Do this 3 times in a row with 30 second breaks. Now put the relay back and your car will start. If it does start and still acts like that Id change the plugs first and then look for another ignition problem. With one plug out on each rotor at a time and the fp relay out you can have someone try to start the car and listen to the gasses coming out of the spark plug hole for 3 even pulses to verify even compression...it still could be low and even though. I think its impossible that your enging could be bad and you cant blow near new compression seals just idling thats for sure

Sounds like its gone.. But best way to check is to crank it with one of the plug out (I don't think it makes any different either trailing or leading, someone correct me if I'm wrong and reason why.)
Also, unplug your ign fuse..
You should hear even blowing noise.. if you don't and hear un even noise, your apex seal is gone.. hence you would hear only compression from one side of the rotor..
I have to give credit to SPOautos for stepping me thru this process few months back when buddy of ours blew his engine.

might, might not
that's why a comp test is the fastest and best way to check. If it's good then start trouble shooting, if not the time wasn't time wasted. He's obviously worried about the compression.

I've been through this exact same thing before. I'll start the car and go inside for a little, then I come out and its only running on one rotor. Yes I thought my motor was gone. I'm willing to bet that your plugs have fouled. Before you do anything, pull the fuel pump relay, pull the spark plugs, crank the motor like Surgemonster said, put NEW plugs back in, put the relay back in, and there you go. Trust me i've done this more than once. If that doesnt solve it, check the compression. Later
