My DIY Intake under $100
I wanted a nice looking intake, but no way was I going to spend $500 for it, so I took a trip to autozone, and picked up some 3" filters, and then to the F&F Speed Shop (Fleet Farm) for some parts... Pop rivets, some plexi-glass, PVC Pipe, some aluminum angle, and some aluminum sheet (for the duct down to the radiator edge.

I am not using the air pump at this time, or I would have mounted is little filter through to the front, along with the "moo" pipe. I have to pull the filter off the BOV before I race, as it is too restrictive, and I am afraid it will cause boost spikes / creep / shoot off the end and dent my hood =0

That is a sweet set-up man. I want to do that myself. Can I grab the dimensions from you To make my life a bit easyer. Part numbers for those filters would be nice to if you have them. Thanks

On my turbo II I used ABS plastic tubing for my all my intercooler piping and it worked perfect for over 2 years, before I sold it. Never did I see any of it melt and I had it coming right off the turbo. There is no way that there will be any problems using it for some intake piping that far from the turbo.
As far a s plexi-glass I have no idea how that will stand up to underhood temps. I would worry most about keeping the glass clean.

Nice work! I really appluad your creativity...However, like some others have said you may want to rethink your materials. Im pretty sure you could go to a machine shop and have them make a mold of your design out of maybe aluminum or some other metal. It would turn out awesome im sure!

Had no problem with CenDiv last weekend, The main back plate is 1/4" I also have all of my exaust / turbo housing ceramic coated. I really dont thik that the PVC will be a problem... The PlexiGlass will melt well before the PVC is a problem.

The K&N 3" filter I used was #RU-3580 / $35 each (the most expensive part, the small 3/4" filters are push in jobbies from the rice boy area.
The next time I pop it iff I'll be sure to get the dimensions.

On my CRX, we made Lexan headlight covers on the fiberglass front end. And in order for them to curve properly around the edge, we had to use a heat gun, and bend it in place. We messed up once because it got too hot and started bubling and turning brown. It wasn't really that hot, either.
