... my sheld does not restrict the filters, rather just directs hot radiator air away and directs cold air to them.

Damian: i dont want to be rude or anything but if i post the pix, later ppl wont order from you!! so ill pm u when i get it scanned...
There is a slight difference between urs and the one in the magazine...
firstly, it is one piece...
secondly, the bottom part is slightly angled...
thirdly, you have to cut half of the black cover that runs from the intercooler to the intake...

I have the template complete.
Well, i have the downloadable template complete. It is PDF format and it prints out 6 pages that you tape together, then cut out to make the templates. After a few hours of getting the process right, it works out pretty well. Tomorrow I will print my template as if i downloaded it and make an actual sheild from it to make sure it will fit properly when you guys use it. If it passes then I will post the pdf template. By the way, the PDF will be under 50K!!!!! Very small download
Here is a lil teaser of what it will look like:
Also, I do plan on taking some requests for a finished 'kit' for those who do not want to build one themselves. More details on that soon...

...also, i just want to clarify that I have not copied any sheild or other intake in making this, I started from scratch....and i have the cardboard originals to prove it (hehehe)
obviously it is going to be similar to other sheilds, they all need to fit in the same spot :-)

i used rivets, picked up a rivet tool and some small rivets from homedept, then lined up the two parts and drilled 3 holes and rivited them together, worked very well and looks prefessional

I (when I have time damnit) will try and fab my own based off of your version. Since I have the Apex'i power intake, Koyo rad, and Apex'i FMIC I will have to do some modding for my own application... but I plan on selling my intake and switching to K&N's, but because of space issues along w/ some $ issues. What I am trying to figure out is if it is possible to use the tubing I compare to the tube you use on the back of your clothes dryer, that you can buy from some performance companies wrapped w/ a heat reflector can be connected to rings that would be either welded or riveted to the rear piece of the heat shield which would act as the mount for the filters. then based off of your heat shield construct a block for the radiator fans heat and make an air guide that would feed the air coming from the pass side headlight air duct to the filter area. Does that make sence? I'm just wanting to get the damn filter out of the rad fan shroud...hmm... I think w/ some time it will work!

The M2 box might be better for heat insulation (cf vs metal). What he has done here essentially looks like the Petit Intake system.

I have that, but am about to put an M2 box in.

The Pettit heat shield is one piece and goes down next to the edge of the radiator.

damian,
did you create the template pdf from CADD? If so can you send me the .dwg file? Then I could plot it out to scale and not have to paste together 6 peices of 8.5x11 sheets. dude, your web-site's are awesome. I love the videos.
