my car is running so nicely :)

Wow guys, I just wanted to tell everyone how well my car is running right now. For the last month or two my car has just been livid with power. The car has just been running absolutely perfect too. I am so excited about this b/c it has not run like this for more than a couple of weeks at a time in the last year and 10 months that I have owned it.

I have had a few good races in it too:

I raced a Honda CBR600F3 from a 60mph roll. He pulled on me just at first then by 100mph I was next to him and just kept walking away until I shut it down at about 140mph. We did this 3 times with the same results.

I have also raced against two modded Supras.

The first one is a BPU++6sp. His car has NOS and when he was running NOS he would pull away from me. Then he ran out of NOS and we ran two times from a 60mph roll. The first time I instantly jump half a car length in front of him and start very slowly pulling on him until 100mph then I mis-shifted into 4th (I know, wtf, fourth??) and he started pulling away. The second time the same deal I jumped about half a car in front and started very slowly pulling on him. This time I got a good shift into fourth and kept very slowly pulling until almost 150mph when I had to shift into fifth. Then at that time he caught up and slowly started pulling away until he let off about 160mph so I blew back by him until I let off at 165mph.

The other Supra just had a SP63 single turbo installed with upgraded fuel system. I raced him 3 times. He had his boost controller set to 1.3kg/cm2, then 1.4kg/cm2, and the last time it was at 1.5kg/cm2. The first run we line up at 60mph, three honks and were off. I don't believe what I am seeing, I am PULLING on a single turbo Supra. That's right, I slowly walked a single turbo supra running 18.5lbs of boost. So the second time we line up he puts it to 1.4 and from a 70mph roll (with me in 4th gear) he jumped out until his rear bumper was even with my front bumper, and we stayed just like this until we both let off (about 140mph). I hung with him! at 20psi!! Then on the third run he cranked it up and from a 60mph roll he immediately started pulling away from me, I didn't stand a chance.

I have also had a high speed run or two. It was on a nice LONG stretch of highway and I took advantage of the fact there was NO traffic around anywhere. So I dropped it to fourth and take off. I just keep climbing, shift into fifth at about 140mph and just hold the pedal to the floor. I am of course just looking out of the windows to make sure there is no traffic anywhere. I look down and see 170mph and say wtf, I kept holding it and was still accelerating quite nicely with no sign of it losing momentum. I look down and the speedometer indicates 180mph, so I decided to run it just pass that, once I saw the needle PASS the 180mph mark I finally let off.

I hope my car runs like this or better from now on. But, I know it can't always be this way, but it would be nice.

Oh yeah, I was running on the stock boost controller when I raced both Supras, which was showing a quick spike to 13psi and then holding a steady 12psi. When I raced the bike, I had my Blitz D-SBC just installed and I was running right about 13.1psi. And all of the guys that I raced against were my friends, so they could back my kills up .

Thank goodness`

I appreciate this post because I was getting worried for a while that the FD was this huge ticking timebomb and if I get one it will explode in my face. Its so nice to read a positive story on it. (I realize that the board is mostly used to post problems so it makes it look like the cars are always having problems, but its still nice to read a positive outcome of one)

Thanks guys, I too noticed that I was not seeing any posts of people's FD running good. So I thought that I would throw mine out there.

I have basic performance upgrades mostly: air intakes, dp, mp, cat-back, FMIC, upgraded twins, tuned ecu, Blitz boost controller, more details in my sig.

The reason why we don't see more posts like this is because those FD-owners whose cars are running fine, are usually out driving them.....

I've had mine for 1.5 years and 11k miles. The original engines and turbos now have about 77k miles on them. During this time I've autocrossed the car, drag-raced it, tracked it and driven it like wildly on the street (and I have to PA police-verification to back that!....)

During this time, the only major work I've had to do to the car (other than bolt-on upgrades and engine-tuning) is a radiator and clutch replacement.

I do drive the car hard, but also keep up on maintenance and ALWAYS make sure that the engine/turbos are as cool as possible before shutting it off!

Damn Bro! What you got there is a moonshine runner! COOL!:p
It's great to see someone with a Rex that is runnin' great, with the right mods.........I want to race you to 60 mph with my 1972
Kawasaki 500cc triple - it eats new 600 CBR's for lunch (along with my budget for engine parts - oh well......! there IS a price for being politically incorrect and blowing all that wonderful 2 stroke smoke all over the place - reminds me of my Rex smell!)
Dood - buy a helmet! You so cRAAAZZZYYYY!

Thats great man! All you hear about our the FD's that have to get a new motor or they just flung an apex hurled and apex seal. =(. but this story is quite uplifting. =). On a side note, what ECU are u running, and what size injectors?

Sweet man. Yeah, I know you always hear about this went wrong that went wrong, but most people don't post when stuff is working fine. I finally have my FD to a point where everything is running beautifully and now I can just nit pick at stuff like rattles, etc., which is great, I just drive it and drive it all over the place. So, to everyone who is discouraged, if there's something "funny" about the way the car drives, sounds, etc etc. It can be fixed!

My ECU was tuned by Rick Stiles in El Paso Texas. The computer is basically the same as a Pettit Unlimited. I run stock fuel injectors and fuel pump. That is why I don't crank up the boost anymore. Nothing but rich whenever I am running high speeds.

Don't worry, I know about the troubles of FD's. Mine has given me a fair share. Let's see, 2 engines, tranny, engine mount, a/c, turbo's, and I am sure there is something else that I am not thinking of.

Talking me too

Yeah mine was running great for about a two weeks. Got the P-FC tuned and the cold air box in. Mine's not the monster yours is but it's getting there. I just have cold air inlet, P-FC catback and DP. Just put on some new S03's and drove up to Napa valley last weekend. I ran great! Played with a guy in a black vette up 880. Not the best place but we were movin along in the 100 to 120 range. Great fun! My wife didn't even complain!!!!!! SO3's are quiter than S02's.

Now let's see either the new radiator or the walbro fuel pump......hummmmmm.

No, that would be me. Mine did blow up in my face, literally.

BTW, someone from work was talking about your car Chuck (legendrx7), they saw it at the autocross event at War Memorial.

They said "Some guy with a black car like yours was beating everyone." Then went on to make jokes about how your car actualyl ran while mine didn't...

It must have just looked that way at the autoX. Because I wasn't driving too good. The car was running perfectly, just the driver was a bit off

Malachi151, I am at home today. They said I could take the day off with pay So, if you still want to mess around with your car, give me a call.
