My BNR twins are completed!

My BNR twins are completed!
Bryan sent me a few pics tonight. I should get them by the end of the week and they go in on July 23rd up at KDR. They sure look a lot better than when I sent them off! I plan on running 10 psi or so for the first 500 miles of normal driving (a few spurts). They flow a lot more air than the stockers so I have to take it easy until I get dyno-tuned on Auguest 13th. Hoping for somewhat of a chilly day - yeah right Anyway, I'll keep you all posted about my first impressions with them in the car and I'll post the dyno sheet in the middle of August.

I got BNR turbo rebuild too, but just the basic ported wastegate. For picture, go to
http://www.berudu.com/reza
I got about 600 miles on them now.
After about 200 miles, it start leaking oil from compressor side of secondary turbo. Then overnight it would drip down to the floor. I got about 2 feet puddle of oil after two night.
I was told by Bryan to break it in further to 1000 miles. He hope that the carbon seals would seat properly later. Not sure whether it will seals up better later. Anyone experience/comments is appreciated.
The ported wastegate is great, but it reduces the secondary turbo to just 8 psi, this is expected, so you need to adjust the boost controller to close the wastegate more. Now I need to adjust the precontrol, since I open the wastegate more, it generates more spike as well. Not as much as stock turbo though.

Thanks Bryan,
I am waiting for that 1000 miles as we discussed before... I am going to give it sometimes, unless you say otherwise.
The car is down now, I found out the battery tray is broken, I just made myself a new battery tray for PC680. I will post picture on my website later.
I will email/call you when I got to 1000 miles.
The turbo are good, I just need to adjust them to get back to the factory level. I wish I have money for PowerFC.
Oh ya, and you did not forget to put the pills, they are in there. So all is good. Only the oil leaks, that I am waiting for.
And you are welcome to use the picture on my website to post on your own web. I think the turbo are nice looking.

Brian,
I love the turbo pics you sent me. I'm eagerly awaiting Barry's dyno results. I find myself thinking about your stage 2's entirely too much. I'm hoping they dyno as well as we think they will.
Hey, did the clutch kit ship out today?

I paid around 925 including shipping for basic rebuild, with ported wastegate, and a new turbo shaft. He charge more for a new shaft. In most cases, you need a new shaft since the old one probably worn out.

Reza,
Got a question for you, or Bryan if he feels like chiming in. A friend of mine's old turbos had 160K miles on them. He would get oil out of the y pipe coupler, oozing down the y pipe. Some in the IC and related hoses as well. He also has some that LOOKED to be coming out of the compressor side housing where it connects to the hard intake pipe, but I'm not sure if its just slime running down the y-pipe in the turbo itself and then down to the lowest point on the housing. Any ideas?

BTW, the "basic rebuild" is the one on BNR's website that's listed for $750. The "Stage 1" is listed at $1250...not sure if you noticed that. Don't mean to be an ***, but I'm a stickler for accuracy, especially when there's a $500 difference in price :P

Tim,
Yes that is what happened before the rebuild and after the rebuild. That is basically oil gets pushed out to the compressor side, then into the snail, and into the intercooler pipes, as well as intercoolers.
Normally this is the carbon seals. Not sure why the rebuild leaks as well, I am going to follow Bryan suggestion to break it in to 1000 miles, and see if its still leaking, It is still now at 700miles.
There could be other cause, this is from my own thoughts. The oil that goes to the turbo is pressurized. So the oil inside the shaft and between the carbon seals are pressurized. IF there is no pressure in the compressor side, most likely it will be vacumm (e.g. idle engine). Then it would be very easy for the oil to go past the carbon seals, if there is not a good seals. If its a good seals, it should have protect it pretty well.
Tim, you can visit Bryan right? I think GA and AL is pretty close

Guys,
<b>Just make sure before you install the turbo that the pills are in there.<b>
Today, I found that the precontrol pills was not there. The wastegate was there.
This explains my strange behaviour, not to mention lots of spiking.
Just check before you install, and when you receive the turbo. Its a simple thing, but very important in the turbo operation.
