My 96k mile 'overhaul'

I bought this car with 95k miles. It was given a clean bill of health by Rick's Rotary, but other than having a recent reman, not much was known.

Here's what I've done or am in the process of doing:

1) Fuel filter (done)
2) Boost gauge (done)
3) Engine/Tranny/Diff oil (done)
4) Air filter (done)
5) Downpipe (done)
6) Oxygen sensor (done)
7) Spark plugs (done)
8) Bypass valve hoses (done)
9) Re-alignment of motor mounts/ppf (done)

Next:
7) Fuel pulsation damper
8) Silicon hose upgrade
9) Pettit AST
10) Injector cleaning/balancing
11) Fuel injection recall kit (hoses, injector o-rings, etc)
12) Spark plug wires
13) Fan mods
14) M2 ECU
15) Greddy exhaust
15) Cheap Bastard intake

I am doing the silicon hoses because my MAP sensor hose was so crusty that it fell off (which scared the crap outta me ). I know there's gotta be more like that under the UIM. I smell gas when I go into boost, so I'm going through the fuel system as well. It's frustrating to not be able to drive it, but working on it is a labor of love.

Lookin' good! BTW Sonny, you'll probably want to look into some extra solenoids too since you'll probably bust some up doing the vacuum hose job.

I 've got a 93 with 102K I just bought (my first RX-7)
can't tell if the fuel injection recall was done on mine - does anyone know if the Mazda dealers can/will provide me with the recall "kit" for free - or do I have to buy it on my own - and if so - how much? (I assume the Dealer CAN tell me what recalls WERE done on the car - by punching in the VIN - the only one I KNOW was done - was the hood - it was replaced because of paint chip issues - there's a sticker on it.

Looks like a good list of maintainance to do. I too bought my RX7 with high mileage and ended up doing a lot of maintainance to bring it back to good health. The worst was probably when I had the waterpump, main oil seal on the engine, and new engine mounts done, my car was down for a good month . Hopefully you won't have to have all that done too...

it sucks huh

If they still had these cars for sale here I would have bought a new one in a heartbeat. The work is very taxing and expensive.

Once you spend the cash for a single turbo then youll enjoy the car afterwards and theres pretty much nothing to worry about under the hood. If you have a problem its most likely the engine

Call a dealer and they can look you up by VIN. They will also do the recall work for free on the car still to my understanding. Unless the previous owner was grossly negligent (unlikely but possible so worth the phone call) all of the recalls should be done by now.

Carfax will also tell you if there are any recalls outstanding. Mine still had the brake booster line recall, but I replaced with the a silicon hose, so I didn't bother with the dealer.

There have been three recall notices put out on the 3rd Generation RX-7s,
two pertaining to engine fires, and one concerning brake booster failure.
You will want to make sure that the car in question has had these recalls
done. If they have not been performed, you will want to take the car to a
Mazda dealership where they will be performed free of charge. If you don't
know whether the recalls have been applied to a car, you can call the Mazda
Customer Service line at (800) 222-5500 with the vehicle's VIN, and they
can tell you.

This is from the 3rd Gen FAQ, a VERY useful link IMO.
